I think Im going to have it so that there are two types of relics.
the relics you get as a dungeon's big treasure will be time relics. when you use it, time itself stops! EX: the hookshot.
the other type will appear after you beat a dungeon's boss. These will be magic relics. they use your magic EX:the lantern.
right now im rebeating ALL of the gameboy zelda's. the oracle ones were harder than link's awakening by a lot!

here's the skinny. I feel that since this will only be half the length of a zelda game, it should have half the bottles. also, having two bottles goes well with the "being difficult" theme. i feel that this is a good number, especially since the 3 gameboy zeldas (im excluding the snes remake) all had only ONE bottle. and yes, you can put fairies and potions and such in them. IF i decide to include epona (and i probably wont, at least in the beta), i might have Lon Lon ranch so you could fill them with milk.
relic==item //yes i know C++

1 bottle in gameboy zelda? O_O
wow
Well I think it might be a good idea to only have 2 bottle for challenge purpose
. In Dark link quest since its only half of a normal Zelda game lenght so I only have 10 hearth containers, 8 items, 4 bosses (including the final one), etc. I have 4 bottles though

yep, and you couldn't even put fairies in it!
right now im making the overworld half the size it was because of memory restrictions. after that, im going to come up with new engine ideas. im going to try to get it so that all background objects hv a .1, or a .3, etc. after it so that in the engine i wont hv like 50 if statements. For EX: .0 will probably be things you can walk on, .3 might be something you can use a hookshot with, etc. this will take time to plan out, so the sceenies might be a while....also im going to lake Tahoe in week, so that doesnt help either.

sound nice, I like how you want to use the decimal trick in xLIB, because with that you could have similar blocks/walls for example but you could have secret passages, hidden switches and some other stuff, maybe even special events when you walk on a tile.
What I though is the puzzle where you have to walk on a bunch of tiles in a certain order without walking on the same tile twice, that would be cool, I dunno if it has been done in a zelda game yet?

Yeah, in "A Link to the Past" (or whatever the first GB Zelda game was) when you put it into a gameboy color, it'd un-lock 3 dungoens that all had to do with color. As in moving color sided blocks, walking over colored tiles to change them, and hitting certan colored statues to open a door...

Yeah, in "A Link to the Past" (or whatever the first GB Zelda game was)
"Link's awakening"
and Kevin, the puzzle you talked about appeared DOZENS of times between oracle of ages and oracle of seasons.
those were classic zelda gameboy games, yet i cant tell if any of you have played them. you could get'em at gamestop pretty cheap. i just beat one of 'em to give me some ideas.
as for the puzzle kevin was talking about, i actually made dozens of them myself and put them in a game i never released called The Puzzler.
OK, that's enough nostalgia for today. im only 17 and i already feel old %)
as for progress, im not going to work on the engine again until my programming partner Adam gets back from Canada on Sunday. But i did finish drawing the second level on paper. im putting a lot of time in giving these dungeons a classic feel!!! (but prepare for some hard puzzles.... :x

oh sound great!
So its some kind of group project I guess? Is Adam visiting calculator websites as well?
I never played Oracle of Ages/season or any games that have unlockable options/secrets that require multiplayer because I am against the capitalism and I hated how Nintendo and some others made people have to buy two console and two games or copy of the same game to fully enjoy the games so I stick with standard single player games such as Link awakening

well, he doesnt visit many ti sites, he doesnt do a lot of basic programming, but he does have a ti-84 while im stuck with a ti-83+. Also, he has a website which is good for displaying news for the project. although thats sorta what im doing here.
as for the oracle games, they were completely separate. but if you had both, all it really did was unlock an item and a different ending. they would have still been good on there own. if you dont want to spend the $$, you could always download them.... :ph43r:

PLEASE READ THIS
i need to decide on a movement and attack system, but im having trouble. here are the different choices i hv:
1: like the other basic zelda game, a four button directional movement and a four button directional weapon system, one button to attack in any direction, doesnt matter which way you face.
2: four button movement, one button attack. you move only if your facing the same direction, otherwise it changes your direction. you attack the way you face.
3: your own suggestion
PLZ HELP ME OUT AND REPLY AND VOICE YOUR CHOICE
