Does the TI-89 Titanium's price lower during black friday? If so, I'll run to my Office Max and get one :D

TI badly wants to see the TI-68k series die, so I wouldn't hold my breath about the possibility of its prices lowering ;)

Really?  Why would they want to get rid of the Titanium?  I know quite a few people that have them.  They don't program them though, they just use them for math.

Because if you don't program it and only use it for math you should get the cheaper and better nSpire CX CAS. That's TI's philosophy. They should scrap most of the z80 series, keeping the 84 C as a cheap model, make the 89 a cheap CAS calc and scrap the non-CAS nSpire. But they won't.

Woah woah woah. Did you say that the Nspire CX CAS is now cheaper than the TI-89 Titanium?  When I bought it it was about 20 Dollars more.

No. This is only on specific items that are "high demand".

Black Friday is the day after thanksgiving (which is always on a Thursday fsr).

And as for Ti scrapping the z80s as cheap..that would be pretty dumb of them because that's a large part of what they're selling :P

Sadly they are trying to make it start on Thursday
Some stores are opening at 9:00 (or 21:00), a lot are opening at midnight, and most are giving hourly specials to make this shopping spree more miserable than any other day.

In Canada, Black Friday occurs the day after Christmas and it's called Boxing Day. Last year some stores tried to do a Black Friday sale, though, but it was nowhere close to what we see in USA or Boxing Day. However, the most notable difference is that over here, due to Canadian store opening hours laws, stores are forced to remain closed from Dec 24th 5 PM to Dec 26th 1 PM, so if boxing day occurs on a Saturday or Sunday, you only have 4 hours for shopping.

Also until last year, there was no bus transit on boxing day in my City, which sucked, because I was stuck shopping at the local mall or in nearby stores, and most sales there sucked. Last year I finally got able to go to Quebec City malls for more interesting stuff, but the buses were so crowded that I had to stand up during the entire ride and at one point they stopped letting anymore people in).

We also have two Zellers stores that are closing on December 17th, and a lot of stuff is 40%-70% off the lowest price. During the final week it will hit 70-90% (and 40% on food/underwears/socks/TVs), but so far in my city about 30% of the store is already empty because people bought all the interesting stuff at 30-50% off >.< . A lot of the stuff in the electronic section that is left is either overpriced or in terrible condition. They had a $69.99 TI-83+ once, though. Last month I got two Asterix comic books for $0.60 and $0.75, which are normally $16.95 at bookstores.

I kinda don't like how stores are opening earlier and earlier.  This year, I heard that Best Buy is going to open at midnight.  I think that the only store around me to do that before was Walmart.  How are you supposed to enjoy Thanksgiving then right after dinner line up to get a deal on some new stuff.  The crazy thing is though that there are only a few great deals and most of the other stuff you can just find on sale some other time.  It's just a marketing gimmick.

Yeah it seems like they try to start it a day before and it opens earlier and earlier. If they continue like that, Black Friday will kinda lose its "special event" touch. Plus there's the fact that people can't spend time with their family anymore because they have to start working at night or go shopping before stores no longer have what they want in stock...

That kinda makes me glad over here stores open later. They close on Dec 24th at 5 PM, so we have time to go to our family right after finishing working, then after Christmas day, we can wake up late and eat dinner before waiting in line in front of stores. I wish that stores opened at 10 AM when Boxing Day occurs on weekend, though, because 4 hours isn't enough to shop when you spend 30 minutes waiting outside most stores before the security guards let you in, let alone moving around crowded malls and waiting in line at the checkout. It took me one hour just to buy a $199.99 PS3 at Future Shop last year >.<

Also we have to be careful at Boxing Day, because some clothing stores mark items up during Christmas rushes, and when they don't, they sometimes offer even greater deals once Boxing Day is over. Usually for clothing stores the best deals are found at the sidewalk sales that occur 2 weeks after New Year.

Yes it is. In France, the 89t is about 170-190€ and the CX CAS is 150€. And the V200 is even more expensive.

And as for Ti scrapping the z80s as cheap..that would be pretty dumb of them because that's a large part of what they're selling :P
Well, there are a couple models that don't make any sense. Why do they keep the 82 Stats (actually an 83), the 73 and the 76 ? Even the 83+ is crap compared to the 84+. I only use half of my 500k flash, and I can't fit that on my friends' 83+. That sucks.

Ok, so here is what I saw today:

-A photography/camera store will participate to Black Friday and the sale lasts from today to Monday.
-An electronic store I forgot the name of seemed to have a big sale too. Some $1399 TVs for $899 or so IIRC. I forgot exactly, though. It was just kinda big, although not on a lot of items
-Sears exceptionally opens at 8 AM tomorrow instead of 9 AM, and it appears they're gonna run some interesting sale.

Last year, only Jack and Jones had much of a sale over here where I live in Canada. Seems like there are more sales this year and I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years it got as big as in USA minus the weird store business hours. I haven't checked HMV and a few other stores, though. Most seemed to have regular weekly sales from the flyer. Bikes and many other items at Zellers are now 50% off or more starting today, but that might not count since they're going out of business. I just bought a $279.99 bike for $125 O.O
