Here buses are often empty except the L2 line on week days. Dec 26 uses the weekend bus schedule tho so it was even worse. Back then we had no articulated bus too.

I kinda don't like how stores are opening earlier and earlier.  This year, I heard that Best Buy is going to open at midnight.  I think that the only store around me to do that before was Walmart.  How are you supposed to enjoy Thanksgiving then right after dinner line up to get a deal on some new stuff.  The crazy thing is though that there are only a few great deals and most of the other stuff you can just find on sale some other time.  It's just a marketing gimmick.

The way it works is that they have some really good sales, but they are all bought up right away. So everyone goes in expecting to get something super cheap, but most people will only get a normal sale. But the big thing is that the people will be in the store and most of them won't leave with they're hands empty just because there are no more sales left.

BTW, near where I live, people have been literally camping out in front of best buy since sat., and they will have thanksgiving dinner in they're tents. Yuck.

Are other stores allowed to buy batches of cheap stuff in another store if there's no limit per customer? If so, then that means that if you don't go early, another store might have bought almost or every item that are really discounted to re-sell them at higher price later.

Plus over here, on Boxing Day (or our stripped down Black Friday tomorrow), most stores only got like 2-3 items that are really marked down a lot (such as a big TV or good laptop being $500 off or so), that they sell without making any profit, and those customers often buy other stuff that is less discounted. It's a tactic to lure customers in to buy more than just the main item on sale.

As for boxing day I don't think I ever saw anyone camping outside or sleeping, but again on December 26th it's either -10°F at night or snowstorming, so that would be dangerous. Often people wait in line outside starting at 8 or 9 AM, though, in larger cities. In smaller cities like mine (139000 people), you usually see people arrive in car around an hour before the doors open, and they wait in their car until there appears to be a huge mob of people waiting. If you plan to visit multiple stores, expect to take 4 times more time for shopping than normal. In my case last year I went in 4 stores and it took me over 3 hours, while normally it would have taken me 1 at those places. It's just crazy and some customers will try to slowly push you to pass >.<

Well, where I live, the day after Christmas is around 40-60 degrees Fahrenheit.
I think the only reason why they camp out is because stores say that eh first 10 customers will get a free ipad or other expensive device.
Stores also give away a lot of other free things or really good deals, like $100 gift cards or cheap tv’s.
Sadly, this has lead to a few shootings when tensions rise, and the accidental trampling of a Wal-Mart employee.

Yeah, it seems like every year one or two people end up getting killed...

That sucks >.<. I remember that employee that died when opening the doors a few years ago once. I guess this is why they take no chance here for boxing day and have security guards (I bet they'll do it on Black Friday too if it ever gets as popular as USA).

Nice, how much was it before and what kind is it?

I'll go check some stores later I think in case I run into some interesting stuff after work (assuming anything interesting won't necessarily all get sold out beforehand).

Around here most people really enjoy Black Friday shopping. I went over to Best Buy and found people camping in tents and I heard some people being there for two days! So I knew I wasn't getting into Best Buy so I ran over to Target and got the last ticket for the new iPod 5! :D Wasn't as good of deal as Best Buy but oh well. I think it was $280 at target but Best Buy was $295 and came with a $40 gift card. Overall I am really happy.

Wait, do they celebrate Thanksgiving in Canada?

Also, my mom was able to get some free tickets to The Life of Pi today just for going to the store.

I think Canada does celebrate Thanksgiving, but on the second Monday of October.

Okay, so there is actually little reason why they would have a Black Friday, because they don’t celebrate Thanksgiving like we do.
