I have no clue. TI pricing is really weird. Even in USA the TI-Nspire Touchpad is only $20 higher than a 84+SE. I guess that maybe the demand for weaker calcs is so high in hi school that it's what drives the prices up. But still, an high price will turn parents away for sure. Where I live, many parents complained about how expensive TI-83+ calcs were, I can't imagine them buying a 84+CSE.

Back in the days, only harder math classes required at least a TI-82/83+. They advised against bigger models because the teacher would teach how to use a 82 so it would be hard to follow him if we had a 89, and he said the 83+SE only offered faster speed/larger space and was too expensive, and the TI-80 because it was too limited and had no link port. They still required a 82 at least, but if people decided to not buy one anyway, they lent them old 82 calcs from the class that couldn't be brought outside. Easy math in my final year of hi school required a TI-80 minimum.

That was back in 2001-03, though. I wouldn't be surprised if where I live, some people bought TI-Nspire Clickpads back in 2008, because back then they were $159.99 instead of $184.99.

Because the teacher said you can't use an Nspire. Remember, although students buy graphing calculators, it's teachers that they advertise to. (Which means that free market economics doesn't apply to graphing calculators, which is why they're overpriced.)

That is true. This is also why so many people in France buy 82Stats.fr, because this is the one teachers talked about even though the 76.fr does the same for cheaper and the 83+ is far better (not even talking about the 84+).

The TI-Nspire CX is still in the clearance section, so it definitively failed over here. The 84 Plus Silver Edition price is most likely due to the upcoming TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition, which will most likely range from $159.99 to $179.99 over here. There's no doubt that there's simply no market for the TI-Nspire CX over here, although it is unclear if it is due to being locked down and harder to get started with or if it's due to the high price tag, which is inflated by the USA-Kicks-Canada's-A** tax that TI still charges to Canadian customers  (something that Casio, Nintendo, Sony and to a lesser extent Microsoft has stopped doing over a year ago).
