Actually here we could buy our calcs ourselves, otherwise the schools didn't lend them outside classes. Not sure if this changed, though.

My high school actually lent TI-82s outside classes until the end of the year.

The lucky people are not just select members of the TI community, in fact :)
As reported on TI-Planet, TI France has created an offer for lending teachers and classrooms, over a month, sets of Nspires and related hardware (docking station, LabStation cradle, charging bay, temperature sensor, and other sensors). There are different sets for maths, physics, chemistry and biology.
Maybe such an offer exists in other countries ? Or maybe it's just that they're still looking for ways to eliminate the TI-Z80 and TI-68k series, and are using this as an entry point (maybe the schools will want to buy some of that, after test-driving them at no cost) :D
