RunOS / Ndless 2
« on: August 23, 2010, 10:37:22 pm »
Ok, I heard you guys actually have a stable beta version of the ndless 2 for OS 1.7
Also that a RunOS (software to run any OS in the nspire) has been worked out, but there is no public information about it.

So here are some of my questions:

why don't you release it in a bit torrent site like thepiratebay, I released the TI InterActive software there and I had no trouble.
(here was a link)

And my second option is to give it to me, here in brazil justice isn't that good and i am sure i won't be in jail doing something like seeding it,
or hosting somehow.

I am just trying to help your great work!

We don't have it, ExtendeD and the Ndless dev team do. There's no way we'd pirate software written by other members of the community - it is up to them when to release it. And the Ndless 2 for 1.7 and RunOS are merely in PoC stage, nowhere stable enough for public use.
And please take that link to the torrent down, as illegal content is not allowed on Omnimaga.
On the other hand, should ExtendeD release Ndless 2, torrents would be a great way to insure it lives. Just sayin'...

Yeah, as bwang said, we might not see these tools released for a while, if ever.

Also, that link should definately be removed.  It might cause viruses, as many torrent websites are known for this.

I was gonna take the link down but someone beaten me to it :P

Yeah only the Ndless dev team have access to those files. From what I remember, Ndless 2.0 still had troubles running properly on OS 1.7 and I am not sure about the status of the OS 2.0 compatibility. I am not sure if they will give much info in public, though.

As for if it comes out, if it has to be torrented, we will probably just give clues as to how to find the files so people who are a bit familiar with the Internet will figure out and other people will figure out eventually.

Since I read the first reply, went there to withdraw the link, because I actually liked this community.
And now that I have a TI, this forum will be actually a great place to find some utilities for it.
(I got my Nspire nonCAS yesterday)
And the reason why I posted this is that even with the acknowledged that  I am able to downgrade it to 1.1 via neadleash (I hope it isn't misspelled)  because my calc, came already with the 1.3 OS, it wont be a great thing for me to do as I need to open some files that requires at least the 1.7 (the version that I am running now).

I know that if they don't release TI group won't discover what they done and probably will keep the exploit.
But, still kind of a sad thing for those who aren't able to do it and want it.

If you have OS 1.3 or OS 1.7, Nleash is not needed to downgrade to OS 1.1; Nleash is only needed for OS 2.1.

Good luck with your new Nspire. :)

Actually i need to use nleash, because as it came with the 1.3, and i wasn't able to find the 1.1 software anywhere in internet, then if I want to downgrade I got to upgrade to 2.1, and then downgrade to 1.1,
(in my theory this would work, but I didn't test it yet)

You would still need a copy of 1.1 to downgrade, no matter what. I wouldn't recommend upgrading to 2.1 for that reason.

Yeah, don't upgrade to 2.1 (and subsequently have to install Nleash) before downgrading to 1.1. That would be a waste of time.

True, with lower OSes, you can downgrade fine, anyway, if you don't have the touchpad (which won't go below 2.0 without a clickpad)

Welcome on the forums by the way :)

Also I'll move the topic to calculator news and discussion
