Innovations in the Calculator Programming World
« on: July 28, 2011, 01:40:28 pm »
What are the most innovative calculator programs you guys know of? I'm talking about games and programs and stuff that have never been made before, and that significantly effected the calculator programming community?

Post / PM me your ideas. Here's what we have so far...

     TI-83/84+(SE)
Axe Parser
Mimas
Ion
Calcsys
CalcUtil
TI-Boy SE
Doors CS
xLib
MirageOS
Emu8x
zStart
Super Mario 1.2
Puzzle Pack
Celtic III
Omnicalc
usb8x
msd8x
TruVid
Slippy
Realsound
aLCDfix
Gossamer
Doom

     TI-Nspire:
nDless
nDoom
oclua
gbc4nspire

     68k (Ti-89, 92, etc)
gb68k
MulTI
FZero 68k
TIGCC

     Casio Prizm
Mpoupe's video player
Obliter8

Remember, often it is hard to be simultaneously the best at what you do and also the first at what you do. This isn't a list of the best programs ever made, it is a compilation of what the community thinks are the most innovative programs ever made.

Is it necessary that they've "vastly affected" the community? Or is just doing something new and innovative enough?
I put forth DoorsCS7 on account of its GUI and CALCNet.
If it had gotten further I'd also name Spencer's Scheme interpreter. (The topic can be found at http://www.revsoft.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=706, but please don't post there because the last post is from 2007.)

I think xLib (or any of the original assembly libraries) should be added.

They did greatly enhance the range and depth of TI-Basic games.
My website: Currently boring.

Projects:
Axe Interpreter
   > Core: Done
   > Memory: Need write code to add constants.
   > Graphics: Rewritten.  Needs to integrate sprites with constants.
   > IO: GetKey done.  Need to add mostly homescreen IO stuff.
Croquette:
   > Stomping bugs
   > Internet version: On hold until I can make my website less boring/broken.

z80
-MirageOS (although it has been greatly obsoleted by DoorsCS for a while now). I added it because back when it came out, the only alternative, Ion, required heaps of RAM to run and had much less features.
-Emu8x

68K
-gb68k
-MulTI
-F-Zero 68K

Nspire
-gbc4nspire

Those are some I can think of. There are many others too.

Seriously, what about the Prizm?

- Mpoupe's video player
- Kerm's Obliter8
- Merth's various assortment of game goodies

I'm only including programs with released tangible results, since there a lot of thing that will eventually make it to this list as well.

Ah ok. So I guess it would be the USB streaming counterpart of ThePenguin77's video player?

And yeah I agree Ashbad. I wish more people also had a Prizm so they could try those. Casio oughta sell it at more places.
