Is this what TI plans for the future?

So I got my new calculator today and read the back of the packaging when I noticed a very disconcerting tidbit of information provided by TI.
This calculator was manufactured a week ago at most, and the packaging is updated to have the CSE displayed as a model for comparison between calcs.

Somebody tell me why the TI-84+SE is listed as only having 480 Kb ROM?

Image is attached to post, if this becomes big, moderator can just edit the post to include the image.

wut, that most be a mistake, as the non-silver edition has that much rom, i guess TI just screwed up ^^

WEll they listed the same amount that the non-SE has so I hope this is a typo
I ordered this so it was brand spanking new!

This is kinda scary actually, although it might be a mistake. If they ever reduced the archive it would be the opposite of what they did in France. Basically our new 84+SE would be the 83 Plus.Fr >.<

Also it seems that TI uses the same packages in both United States and Canada, because it has French.

EDIT: This reminds me of the big mistake they did in 2011 that resulted into a fake news totally mocking them :P http://ourl.ca/12643

It's a mistake. My TI-84 Plus C SE warranty card says it's powered by four AAAs.

Indeed, it's far from being the first time that their comparison tables contain blatantly wrong information... almost always to the detriment of the less powerful models. That's effectively a way to make people more likely to buy the more powerful, more expensive models. Whether the mistakes are intentional is left to everyone's appreciation.

Looking at the PCB, it seems that the TI-84+CSE was originally intended to support running on AAAs. The PCB still has the same pads at the bottom for accepting power from AAAs, the circuit it connects to is populated, and the battery compartment is tall enough, but it's not quite thick enough. I think that could be solved with a little bit of dremeling. TI added thick plastic (maybe one or two millimeters) between the battery and the PCB which I believe accounts for the difference. There's definitely hardware modding potential there. I think TI should have left in the ability to run it on AAAs as a backup solution.

EDIT: I'm silly. The pads I'm talking about are where the charging bay connectors connect. The size of the battery bay is simply because TI's engineers didn't feel like changing the CAD design. Nevertheless, the modding potential remains.
