How can i make an attachable light for either my I/O port or my usb port?

use an USB flashlight and USB8x.

when you use the USB8x BASIC interface, it'll stay on untill you let th usb port do something else.

You can also make this:
.----|<----[1k]--- vcc
|

|
.----------------- GND
Plug it in the I/O port. (vcc is the tip or the ring and GND is the sleeve of the jackplug)

I'd stay away from powering a light off the link port. USB has lines dedicated to power, the link port is just for data communication.

This is how the linkport looks from the inside (one line)
As you can see you can harvest the power safely since it powers from vcc directly
