Selling Nspire for Prizm
« on: April 17, 2011, 01:26:10 pm »
I am considering selling my TI NSpire with a 84+ Keypad (RARE!) and the Touchpad to buy the PRIZM.

Just asking you guys what do you think of this.

This means you won't be able to run any TI programs any more, because that's your only calc right?

:schocked: I forgot about that. I could also pay for it without selling mine...

Rare? not really. You can by the 84+ pad for $10 on ti's site, and get an nspire on ebay for ~$80

@scout: It depends on your needs and what your school requires for graphing calculators. TI calculators also have a much larger program selection at the moment (since you have the 84 keypad). I Wouldn't discourage you from getting a Prizm though. It is a very nice piece of equipment. ;)

As I sad in the other topic, I need to know if PRIZM's Maths capabilities are good too :D

EDIT: Thanks for the advice.

Well there are currently plans to add an 84+ emulator to the Prizm so you wouldn't lose all TI games. Yes you would lose all nspire games because an nspire emulator sounds very difficult to accomplish. But on the other hand many people would like to port some popular nspire games to the Prizm in the near future. Also current projects in development for the Prizm are java and an Axe port.

List of stuff I need to do before September:
1. Finish the Emulator of the Casio Prizm (in active development)
2. Finish the the SH3 asm IDE/assembler/linker program (in active development)
3. Create a partial Java virtual machine  for the Prizm (not started)
4. Create Axe for the Prizm with an Axe legacy mode (in planning phase)
5. Develop a large set of C and asm libraries for the Prizm (some progress)
6. Create an emulator of the 83+ for the Prizm (not started)
7. Create a well polished game that showcases the ability of the Casio Prizm (not started)

Saving games is not something I'm really worried with at the moment. But a 83/84+ (SE) emulator would be a +.

If you can, you should try to keep your TI-Nspire but still get a Prizm, but as z80 is saying there might be an emu eventually. I think either him or KermMartian was working on one.
