Nleash for TI-Nspire OS 2.1
« on: July 27, 2010, 06:14:34 pm »
There's a wave of OS 1.1 nostalgia with the release of OS 2.1...

-> Nleash v1.0

([edit] the link now points to ticalc.org's archives)

[edit] If this is not clear enough in the documentation: Do not try to downgrade a TouchPad TI-Nspire to OS 1.1 with a TouchPad keypad. You need a ClickPad keypad to run OS 1.1.

Yes for non-CAS, with a classic ClickPad.

Oh wow.... I should've thought of that in the first place! :-o

I've just examined the TNS file, and surprise - a beautiful &&&&&&&&&& (censored against TI, but for those who know will know what I'm talking about),
which probably forces it to reinstall an OS.
(It's usually a dirty prank, but this turned out to be an exploit!)
I just wonder how the OS was able to open a standard zip file...

Anyway, great job ExtendeD! :D

Well done!

Does this mean that once OS 1.1 is installed, you could go back to, say, OS 1.3 (below 1.7) without running Nleash? Or would you need to run it again in order to change operating systems (to something below 1.7, that is)?

The userbars in my sig are links embedded links.

And in addition to calculator (and Python!) stuff, I mod Civilization 4 (frequently with Python).

As long as you don't reinstall OS 2.1, there's no downgrade protection.
This seems not to be true for TouchPad though: after an upgrade to OS 2.0, you may need to upgrade to OS 2.1 and run Nleash.

This is good news.

I wonder if in the future there will be a way to run OS 1.1 on touchpad keyboards, with a program to remap the keys or something?
