You could join during a few seconds, part, do homework question, rejoin, repeat, etc
J/k you'll get banned I think
(since it would flood the channel)

Purple and blue was the equivalent of admin, but purple was the root account, which no other admin could delete or modify. Other admins had restriced admin CP access. On the new Omnimaga forums, all admins (blue) are the equivalent of purple on the old board.
The green group was the global moderator/manager group. These members had global moderator and temporary banning priviledges. They couldn't permban, though. This group was phased out with the time and finally did on the temp board.
The red group was the Coders Of Tomorrow group. This group had almost all moderator priviledges the green one had until late 2006, where they became restricted outside their projects sub-forums, due to abuse (such as staff unlocking topics I was locking and editing other posts for no reason). On the temporary board, as the Manager group dissapeared, the COT group became green. After the two anon raids of Feb 11th and 12th 2008, the entire remaining staff (

) were granted global moderator priviledges and ban powers. Basically, the COT group practically became the Manager group, while keeping its name.
The old board always ranged from 20 to 25 staff in 2006 and 2007. However, most were not as active working on projects and in some occasions, only about 3 staff were active at all working on something. Most logged in users in late 2007 were regular members. In the board final months, a colored nickname on the online list was something rare, especially green.
For a short while, we had special usergroups too:
-Pixel artists (aqua): members with great pixel artist skills were put in that group. Unfortunately, most were inactive, so seeing a member under this nick color on the online list was pretty rare.
-Troublemakers (gray): On the old board, permanently banned users accounts were not deleted, they were put in a usergroup just for banned users. Spambots were deleted, though, else we would have got 4000 troublemakers.
-Elite (purple): members who had a sub-forum for their featured RPG projects were put in this usergroup. They had some priviledges on their sub-forum. This group was deleted after the featured RPG projects were taken down.
And certain members had their very own groups too (like how Netham45 has a pink nickname today):
-tr1p1ea (rainbow flashing nickname. This lasted through late 2006 and 2007)
-Spengo (banana icon besides nickname. This only lasted in March 2006)
On the board we have today, the same group as on the temp board were kept intact. Just new ones were added, such as contest judges (brown group, only lasted this summer), non staff irc chan ops (purple, all #omnimaga chanops has partial access to staff forum), lobsters (exact same thing, but just for Netham45
).

With this topic you could assemble most important parts of Omnimaga history and comparative history to other z80 calculators forums.
* Galandros pokes DJ to do it instead of giving information in parts

well I might eventually add an about page with the history of the site. Not now, though, since it might be best if the old board returned, so I have more accurate info

And finally updated with higher resolution. Now all detail can be seen.
You included some forums I never knew that existed. Also Omnimaga is monopolizing soon the z80 forums posts.

it was actually at this res before :O, I think I might have posted the wrong image, tho. I have a big and small one.
ANd yeah it really seems like that X.X, if I calculate correctly, we have like 54% of the entire z80 english community activity and that includes a lot of off-topicness from Cemetech. However, I noticed Cemetech has picked up again since KermMartian came back, though, which is good, and UTI seems to have ssome more activity at the moment.
UTI had higher activity in Jan-Feb 10 than Jan-Feb 09, but the increase was not that high

Here's an updated graph of the TI community activity as for April 12th 2010, 2:35 AM.
Please note that this one omits all posts made on Revsoft from April 4th to April 12th, because Revsoft website is currently down and the latest Google cache is from April 4th. Revsoft should be around 300 now.
Personal comment: It seems Omnimaga and Cemetech are on pace to have an increase in activity over last year. UTI, however, despite still having some activity, seems to lag behind. Since most of their activity is usually during Spring and when school restarts, they might have a small chance to get back in the 10000s, though. With their recent site updates, maybe it will attract more people too. The return of their download section would help a lot (and maybe continuing being nice to new members, unlike last Fall and early Winter).
Revsoft forums are not very active, but a few projects seemed to be updated mostly behind the scenes, like, on group.revsoft.org. TIBD still has activity, but sometimes has a day or two with no new post, and seems to be going slower than it did in 2009. For some reasons, TICALCS (not ticalc.org) still seems a lil active. I was surprised considering the owner was gone for a few years. However, it's hammered by spambots so I had to check each post one by one to update the stats, else they would be in the high 500s. TIFW is barely active, but it's not dead. The major issue is Tifreak8x leaving for half a year in 2009 nearly killed their forums
, and Ranman departure didn't either. As for the others, I guess they're most likely dead. It seems like the TI community is going back to like it was in 2003-2004: centralized on fewer forums.
Currently, Omnimaga appears to have 60.5% of the entire combined activity of all the forums included in those graphics. Cemetech comes second with 24.4%, then in third position, United-TI, with 7.9%.
Do you think 2010 will see a total activity increase over 2009? It would be kinda nice to see. It could maybe show that calcs are still regaining more interest, as they did in 2009.
EDIT: removed outdated graph

Updated graph. This time, the total amount of posts combined for each year is shown to the right. Looks like 2010 will see an increase in overall. Omnimaga alerady beaten its last year post count and it looks like Cemetech and TICALCS2 will see an increase over 2009. The later is overrun by bots but bots posts aren't counted in ticalcs.net total. It looks like other forums are all heading towards a decline, though (altough for UTI and Revsoft, extended downtimes did not help).
EDIT: removed outdated graph. Will update soon with new one.

I managed to put the entire stats in OpenOffice. I wish I knew earlier that it was as simple as just pasting everything then the cellsheet prog formats everything in column for you. This allowed me to create a graphic showing the daily post stats on the new Omnimaga forums which opened on August 25th 2008. It is attached below.
As you can notice, a slow start, but a popularity increase around the 2009 contest time, then back to what it was before. Suddently, by November, activity starts increasing at a rapid rate then explodes one week after Ndless and gbc4nspire releases. A decrease then occurs in late April-May, but still way above what we used to get a year ago. Finally, in June, activity skyrockets again.
As you can see, there are quite a few 300+ post days in there, 4 of which are in June, 3 in the past 4 days.

Moved this to calc discussion and news, because this is no longer only related to the old board stats, but the entire community as well and the new board.
First of all, for the first time since Jan 12th 2006, we had five consecutive days with at least 200 posts. The last time it happened was from Jan 7th to 11th 2006:
January 7th - 2006 219
January 8th - 2006 227
January 9th - 2006 230
January 10th - 2006 245
January 11th - 2006 263
And now:
June 15th - 2010 250
June 16th - 2010 363
June 17th - 2010 354
June 18th - 2010 261
June 19th - 2010 367
So far, here are all Omnimaga days of at least 250 posts, including the old board, in order of activity:
01/01/2007 - 669
06/19/2010 - 367
06/16/2010 - 363
03/23/2010 - 362
06/17/2010 - 354
04/07/2010 - 337
06/09/2010 - 323
06/10/2010 - 288
04/30/2006 - 286
04/18/2010 - 274
04/03/2010 - 268
01/11/2006 - 263
06/18/2010 - 261
06/11/2010 - 256
03/18/2010 - 250
05/26/2010 - 250
06/15/2010 - 250
I would simply include every post days of at least 200, but I believe we had one around when Zera announced Lost Legends on the old board on Halloween and maybe when Trevmeister66 joined in late 2006, and I do not have the stats for those days. For sure, they were not even close to 250, though.
Ties are sorted by daily page views.

I will probably try to get an updated graph of the community approximative activity since 2005 like the previous ones soon. I'll also obviously update the Omnimaga one on the stats page, too, which I had to edit a bit because of the huge June 2010 record we just got (that will most likely be very hard to beat for a long while
. Maybe 9001 for June 2011?
would be nice for before Omni 10th anniversary on Sept 1st 2011
)

It is getting harder to keep up the number of records achieved.
Good to know the stats will be updated. Sometimes I check it. I will check again in a week or when I remember.
