Some things I'm wondering about the TI-84+ keypad

Ok, so in a few days I'll be ordering the TI-84+ keypad 4 free :D because I registered my Nspire. I has questions:

1. Do I need to use a ti-84+ cable and the TI-84+ software to link my Nspire in 84+ mode to the computer so I can transfer games and stuff?
2. This keypad will work with Axe games and programming and ASM games and programming, right?
3. If I need to use the 84+ linking stuff, will these items come with the keypad?

Yes, but a few assembly games may not work correctly.

I believe the USB cables you use for linking are included with the Nspire, but I'm not completely sure.

Same USB cable as the 84+ one (direct USB, not silverlink).

Also, from what I've heard:

The TI-84 mode runs a bit slower than a normal TI-84.
Some programs may not work because the complete instruction set is not emulated (undocumented instructions were left out).
Some USB stuff doesn't work at all in 84+ mode. (not entirely sure about this one, I think it involves calc. to calc. linking)

USB linking is completely different in the 84+ mode when compared to an actual 84+. The TI-OS will properly handle all USB linking, but third-party programs will not.

Mostly it should work, but some ASM programs use "undocumented" instructions that work on actual hardware (real TI-83/84 Plus calculators) but not the Nspire's keypad. They're sort of like unofficial features of the Z80 processor that TI didn't bother to emulate correctly, so programs like Omnicalc don't work.

If it isn't, direct USB cables are really common nowadays, and they're often included with products that use them. Look around your house and you'll probably turn up with a few.

What? No TI-84+ link cables came with my Nspire. Neither did any 84+ linking software. But I can download the 84+ linking software from TI, right? And is this software that I would download free, or does it require a liscense? And I really don't want to buy more stuff online to get a link cable...

You can use any mini-usb to usb cable as a TI-84+ linking cable. Many digital cameras use that cable.

TI-linking software is free, and doesn't require any kind of licence
