Press-to-test LED
« on: July 28, 2010, 10:36:16 am »
Apparently, now it is possible to control the LED for PTT on the non-cas Nspire units.

Does anyone know how exactly this is done, as in what is the memory address, and what value goes with what color?

We don't know exactly "how" for the moment, but the PTT/LED status seems to be stored in the same memory  page than the downgrade protection and the diagnostic mode-flag.
It even worked on basic & CAS TouchPads! ;)

No surprise we managed to activate the LED while testing the beta versions of Nleash.

This would be pretty cool if we could fake the PTT LED at some point...

Heh, I can use all my documents while the teacher thinks I am in press to test mode, that would be cool (not that I would cheat) It is just that I almost made my nspire unusable by putting it into press to test mode, which can only be exited by another nspire (which I didnt have) thank gawd TI made a patch just in case someone did that

This is interesting, that light could effectively be used as a guide, maybe, in some games and other programs.

This would be really nice to have control of.  Like, if you beat a level in a game, it could be green, if you lose, it would be red.  Also, it could be used to show what powerups you have in a game.  It would have many uses. :)

That said, that news on TI-BANK got my hopes up for a short while at first, because the way it was worded, to me it sounded like Critor found a way to display colors on the LCD XD. Oh well, still nice.

It would be awesome if we could turn on multiple colors at once: red+green=yellow
