haha. so, most of us have parents that:
-dont like their children program their calc
-warn their children that they get their calc from them if they dont stop programming (but they cant)
I must be lucky--the only restriction on programming anything (calcs, computers, etc.) that my parents have ever given me is "Don't do anything illegal, and leave all government agencies alone."

edit: something ate the quote when I originally posted this...

hahahahahahah mine actually tell me to download illegal stuff instead of buying, but I disagree.

wow you have a nice uncle
be happy with him!!!!

He encourages me to program Java, but I hate Java :(

Here's a video for you, Scout:

Java 4-ever

Also, this video is really good.

Well, I'm sure he also told them that he could revert in like 1 Minute.  I'm sure they didn't listen. And I'm sure if KOS supported math, they still wouldn't allow it.

Which is very bad. He can work on tiDE for now, though. Look on the bright side??

Nope. From what I know of SirCmpwn's parents, AFAIK they won't let him program anything calculator related.  Not sure why.

wow I guess I am lucky with my parents. They could not care less about what I do. of course they would not like it if they figured I was attacking governmental institutions (which I did not do btw) but as long as there are no cops on our doorstep I can do what I want. only restriction is time. If I go behind the PC for 3+ hours they'll eventually kick me off...

Anyway, altough I agree that it is not nice of sir's parents to do this it is not very nice either of other people here saying his parents are jerks. I don't know how sir's family situation is but I do assume he loves his parents and for others to call them jerks without even knowing them can be painfull. I am not making a judgement but merely showing my disaproval of calling his parents jerks, even if he himself feels that way.

I hope you'll be back on it soon. You do have all files on google code or something don't you?

Also, your parents are really jerks. It's a good thing they don't have any popular site/blog/forum or even Facebook that we know of, because I think they would often be the target of trolling, if not less legal things involving 4chan, sometimes...

Also, I still have my calc, but I can't connect it to the computer.  All of my major projects are assembly at the moment, and can't be worked on.  tiDE is on my flash drive, along with SharpDevelop 4.0 Beta and an SVN tool, so I can still work on that slowly.  I also keep backups *everywhere.*  When I eventually become ungrounded, I will still have projects, even if they delete the local versions.  I updated all my backups today, and distrubuted copies of all my projects throughout friends at school.  I'm also having a friend of mine build me an Ubuntu flash drive with TiLP, Wine, and Mono so I can try to work on KnightOS.
I managed to get usb8x+msd8x back on my calculator before they grounded me, so I can still transfer stuff if it's emailed to me.  So please email me anything you think I'd like :)  Also, I'm getting my proxy stuff fired up again so that I can still access Omnimaga and Cemetech if I'm blocked from those.  Geekboy's proxies are still up, I think, and I have other resources as well.
This is not my first go around with my parents.  I'm prepared for this kind of thing.

<Overly-dramatic>Battle Stations men! Prepare the cannons!</Overly-dramatic>

Let's see, do you have any wifi-usb adaptors? You have that mini-A to A female cable, right? We could work something out.

I don't have a wifi adapter.  But trust me, I will not be abandoning the community during these tough times.  I will figure it out, you'll just have to bear with me as my updates will be slow, and I won't be able to help out the tiDE team as much.  But I can access Codeplex SVN from school, so that is helpful.

Well good luck SirCmpwn! I hope you get ungrounded eventually.

O.O I LOL'D at their quote XD. But at least I'm glad some people have parents that don't mind unless they got bad grades. In my case, they only minded if I spent like 10h a day on calc programming for too long and did not vary my activities enough. I got my calc taken away twice for that, during about 4 days. That time where my internet was taken down because I spent too much time online was a bit uncalled for, though. My mom cancelled my internet plan completely until I move out. This meant 5 months with no internet at home.

I'm lucky in that my parents still are mostly unaware of how proficient i am in calculator programming, as i lead a quite secretive life in it :P Well i'm glad you took every precaution good Sir and im glad you can still visit Omnimaga and that you haven't lost your projects :)
