I believe it is also that less and less things are amazing or original, so one might see it possible for one to steal ideas :Ptongue.gif

Yes, I agree with that. Development is becoming much more...in-depth, I guess.

The price of time that it takes for someone to develop a quality game these days is a much larger task. This may be a reason that programmers would not want to make false hopes.

Also the ratio of programmers to sprite artists could possibly be another problem. Even greater is the ratio of programmers to sprite artists willing to do a week's worth of work.

maybe things will change if they got something really good on the nspire.  that thing's got bigger resolution than GBAs/NDS

It has some serious potential, I agree. I think the first order of business would be to write a raycasting engine for it. :)smile.gif

I agree, I hope something is done with the NSpire, but I wonder if the crowd would become big enough?

well it was designed to be used on standardized tests

most schools allow 68ks, and nspire kinda looks like a 89/83 hybrid to me

the crowd will probably increase if they put 83+ out of production, but i doubt that since 84+ was so recent.  i don't want that though, but if they do, they'd better make sure nspire can be coded in ARM asm or C.

edit:
sorry for getting us so off topic

as for the topic at hand, I generally think it's better to announce projects publicly at at least 50% completion.  Any project without considerable production usually dies.  At about 50%, it's like no turning back, so the support from the community is a nice boost in the final stretch.

If they do make ARM assembly, although I am pretty sure from my sources they won't, then they will create a whole world. So long as the OS is documented fairly well, like the 83+ OS. New assembly optimizations, tutorials, compilers, etc. I think it would be really fun. I would feel like a kid in a candy store I know that. :Ptongue.gif

is the screen memorymapped?  if they're using a LCD driver again, something like that screenie will be almost impossible again...

edit:
can someone move some of these posts into the ti-nspire rant so we can get back on topic?  that is, if we want to get back on topic?

Well back on topic I agree with the 50% progress thing (or when the entire game engine and intro is done). Since the engine is done then it increase the chances of completion of the project so you can announce it.

though it'd really suck if you were like 90% done and then needed to do something major (i.e. change to multipage app, or on 68ks, add a dll ew...)

 LMAO

I don't know why in TI's right mind they would put an LCD driver in it. That would suck.

Either way, if C is released for the Nspire, or a compiler is somehow made, then I think the first business at hand is to port ClosedGL!
