You shouldn't have to worry about it. Most of the really dangerous stuff is hard to get to and those that know aren't interested in killing your calc (though it *is* possible).

Besides. If anything *did* become public, you'd know about it. Hit us up on IRC sometime if you want to learn more. It's where all the hax are :P

EDIT: More information about my concerns have been stated by another member of our wonderful forum. I share much of what he had to say about it, and then some.

There are some rather scary programs out there, but they are not likely to get on your calculator.
Most of them don't cause irreparable damage anyway.

Has a calculator every been completely junked? BrandonW bricked a few, but he made a fix for that. The only thing I guess you could really screw up would be the LCD. Unless maybe you replaced 0000 with jp 0000. :P

You can build a statue out of either 1'x1' blocks or 12'x12' blocks. The 1'x1' blocks will take a lot longer, but the final product is worth it.

I can think of a combination of hardware and software failure- your link port fails, and then you delete the OS. Dead calc, unless you can fix the link port.

The userbars in my sig are links embedded links.

And in addition to calculator (and Python!) stuff, I mod Civilization 4 (frequently with Python).

I'm not sure if it's ever been tried, but is there the possibility of interfacing directly with the flash chip?
Now let's assume that dies. Can you replace the flash chip? (This is all "if you really wanted to", I probably wouldn't :P)

Both TI-Z80 and TI-68k calcs can be killed. But those who know don't behave in an irresponsible manner, and don't tell anybody untrustworthy - they have to find by themselves in the appropriate programs.
Due to obfuscation, no antivirus could be reasonably efficient against viruses, BTW.
