For the first time ever, I might have gotten a scam/phishing attempt e-mail that is TI calculator related:

Scams are typically common via e-mail, but this is the first I got about calcs, so I thought I would let you know. Be careful if you get any e-mail that looks like Texas Instruments ones. The one quoted above, and its images, blocked in my Gmail, does not link to education.ti.com, but a different site I will not state here in case it contains viruses (someone tried going on it and it had a blank page, but we never know).

Update on this!

I received one more similar e-mail the other day and this time, I decided to contact Texas Instruments about it, in case. Finally, it turned out to be their Teachers eNewsletter that was inadvertently sent to other people as well. So those e-mails were legit.

Now TI just has to wait for ASM programming to become common, and then popularity will take off with little effort on their part.

Also the TI-Nspire isn't too easy to use IMHO. Even the 89 was easier I think. That is enough to scare away people.

That said I wonder what will happen when (or if?) Ndless comes out for newer OSes to the sales. I wouldn't be surprised if they skyrocketed when other students saw their friends play ASM games on their Nspires.

Yes, the Nspire keyboad is full of buttons and each key has 3 different uses. It is hard to know all the menus and navigate between them. z80 series does not have a excellent GUI but is simplistic and easily memorize the menus with time.

It will not be a surprise to 3rd party software in Nspire make it sold like crazy in the next year. Probably many people are waiting for it. And the graphics in the Nspire will surprise much more students than the z80 ones.

I'm sure when 3rd party OSes are finished that the Nspire will be the calc to have.  TI's sales will skyrocket.

I'm glad the email wasn't a scam.
