PP is back!
« on: June 22, 2006, 08:30:00 am »
I have resumed working on Pokemon Purple again. :)smile.gif

I plan on getting all the Pokedex stuff done first, and get that out of the way, and then get back to the map. I think my only slowdown will be the conversions of the pics to b&w, and then to hex. After that, things should move right along.

Oh, it is far from it! :D

Thanks to Mathstuf, I now have them all easily set at 32x32 bitmaps, so all I have to do is open them up in PAINT, set the zoom to 800%, and turn on the grid, and I can see each "pixel" that makesup the pokemon. Since I am shooting for black and white, I will be porting over the first pokemon, bulbasaur, and posting the before and after image.

I hope to have this completed sometime tonight. :)smile.gif

Yay! Glad to see some progress.

Btw: When you choose the zoom in paint, you can click on an area just below 8x, one pixel above the bottom line of the box.

That will get you a 10x zoom ^^

I was already told about the one pixel missing, but please take into account that this was done from paint, and ported to hex, by eye. :)smile.gif

I had the greatest idea for the item system, and I can't believe I didnt see it before. >.<

I will have a For( loop to go through the list and deteriming if list element is >0. My only problem that I see thus far is exiting the For loop... I might have to do a While loop... Anyways, in this manner, it will retain some of its dynamic abilities, on not displaying what isn't there, and displaying what is. :)smile.gif

Anyways, I have to determine the longest item name, and then see how well that displays on the screen within the item menu screen, and will have a sub("string" system to display the item names.

I will try to make a screenshot of that once it is implemented. I hope the above made some sense...

Nice bulb sprite! Which version is it from? I can't recognize it; unless its the small icon used in the menu in Advanced generation of games. The angle used is right for that.

Glad to see PP back in action. ^^ I hope you have a good idea on how to store all the text for dex entries.
One of these days I'll get a sig I'm really proud of.

It is the icon for FireRed/Leaf Green. :)smile.gif

And no, not yet... I am workin on it though. ;)wink.gif I figured if I could port 2 images a day, I would have all images converted to hex in 2 months, while I work on the other aspects of Pokemon.

Horrifying discovery...

The sprite data just for the Pokemon (all 151) will be around 42000 bytes in size. Gonna require some mad skillz programmin that all in...

I'd recommend resource over flashy gosh :ninja:ninja.gif
Way more flexible.
