Gaming Discussion / Stepmania!
« on: March 26, 2010, 07:59:16 pm »
*Logo is a link to the site. ;)

Stepmania! It's DDR for your fingers. With a limitless amount of songs available on every difficulty imaginable (but mostly just really hard or insane) it really is better. You could even get a dance pad for your PC and never have to buy another DDR game again. Anyway, who here plays? If you don't, why not try? Song packs can be found below and I can try (emphasis on try) and give some pointers to those that want it.

Downloads
Various downloads for Stepmania. Songs, themes, and noteskins. If you want me to add something to the list, just let me know.

Song Packs
None of these are hosted by me, but they're some pretty damn good packs. I'll link to each of them and give an approximate difficulty rating for the one's I've tried. Much more to come in the future. Unzip them into your Songs folder. (except for the Otaku's Dream series, you have to unzip those into your Stepmania folder) Due to the varying types of files used, I'd recommend WinAce. It's worked for every file here so far, but if you have another Unzipper you prefer, then use it.

Themes
Just some themes. Unzip into your Themes folder.

XI DiSTROTiON +45
Theme I'm currently using.
Based off of IIDX 13.
AOI sapphire
Another great theme.
Remake of a theme based on IIDX 12.
NEX: future vision projekt
The first theme I used.
An original theme inspired by IIDX.

Noteskins
Just double click them. They're an .SMzip file that will unload to the correct spot by themselves as long as Stepmania is installed.

Apocalypse
Great set of notes that follows a more modern version of the default.
Apocalypse 2
Amazing set of notes that I still currently use.
Futuristic look with epic lightning-esque holds.

You'd use real(3 most likely. It works exactly like RecallPic but with some other features.

real(3,pic_num,logic,update_LCD

pic_num = Number of the pic. (0-255)
logic = How the pic is displayed.
 0 =  Overwrite
 1 = AND
 2 = OR
 3 = XOR

update_LCD =
 0. Doesn't update
 1. Updates screen

For what you want, you'd just need "real(3,3,0,1" and "real(3,5,0,1".

Also, note that a Pic takes up a LOT of memory so it would probably be smaller to use several line commands over a 2nd picture.
Of course, if you plan on using xLIB or CIII anyway, the pics can be archived so it will take less RAM to use pics.

Up to you.

Isn't it backwards? Line(x1,y1,x2,y2 is to draw and Line(x1,y1,x2,y2,0 to erase.

Normally, yes, but he said that he's on a black background. ;P

Ah, that. I was actually trying to do that earlier, but I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to get it to work right.
I'll add it back to my 'to-do' list and work on it tomorrow. =)

Actually, it's the same font as almost every userbar site out there.
Also, it's a free font available for use anywhere.

As for the gradients in the custom BG userbars, what do you mean? I'd assume that you could make a image that's a gradient then upload and use that like any other custom background, unless you mean something else and I'm completely wrong. (It happens. A lot.) ^^;

Well, I'm taking the day off of coding. Assuming I get some ideas, I'll continue tomorrow.

Until then... I'm off for some DDR and FFXIII.

Hm, any fonts you guys would want in particular? I just used this one because it's the standard for userbars.

It's funny, the only on-topic post on this page looks seriously off-topic.
Omnimaga is bizzaro land.

I think our overall post count would be a lot bigger if we actually counted randomness section.

Please, let's not.
That place still gives me nightmares, my only consolation is that the posts don't count for anything so it's as if they don't exist. >.<

Well, threw in the "More Info" page which is basically a "Why I Made This Program" and "Who Am I" section plus the copyright.
Nothing special, but it completes the site.

I'll keep thinking up ideas.

How rude, you guys have turned this perfectly good welcome topic into a melting pot of bad internet memes. D=

Well, welcome to Omnimaga, Amy. Assuming you haven't been scared away already, I offer my services to help you with anything if needed.
Just let me know, mate.

* {AP} beats a hasty retreat. Srsly.

and I would like to request you add the ability to position custom backgrounds in the banner, because it was hell to get that Half-Life 2 image lined up properly.

This won't be too easy. I can let you change the coordinates it starts the cropping, but if you go through the trouble to figure out the coordinates, it'd be easier to just crop the part you want out yourself and upload it to imageshack.us or something. PHP alone isn't capable of making it easier. I'd have to either learn some advanced javascript (I'm a novice at javascript really) or switch the generator to Flash or Java. (Unfortunately, I don't know much Java... but I guess I can try to get a flash version running... I just haven't messed with Flash in a web environment much before)

Still, I'll think about it. Definitely won't be a new feature very soon though. Sorry. =(

Glad you guys like it so far. =)

Man, I'm amazed at how far I got in such a short time. Well, no where to go but up!
Any suggestions? =D

(EDIT: To answer your question, juju, yes it does.)

Oh, and the generator has been upgraded. Added the progress option and changed sizes of text boxes (plus adding character limits on level and progress). Also, should now give the most optimized URL possible for your combination of inputs and dispose of anything that conflicts with another part of the code. It doesn't do this for the easter eggs though. This is on purpose.
