Other Calc-Related Projects and Ideas / In the works...
« on: May 20, 2014, 03:09:00 am »
I've been working on a bunch of different things here and there. I don't really have anything that's close to being finished. To start off:

My Bluetooth Dongle:

A project I started on a while ago. I was going to let it die but I think I'll keep working on it. There's some more stuff that I want to try out. Check out my USB post on Cemetech for more info. The original post was on TIPlanet, however I won't be attending the MakerFaire.

Cydia Exiled:

I finished the world map and replaced the sprite routines partially with my HyperSprite routines. It moves about twice as fast.

I increased the speed in the Mario background routines but I can't find a way to get rid of flicker. I tried pausing the refresh buffer but the calc can't write fast enough for it to do any good. (Tested it on Pacman) I think the only way to eliminate flicker is to use page swapping which I can't use for some games. In Jumper I jack up the screens framerate to make the game look smoother but dropping the framerate makes a game look worse, almost equivalent to pausing the refresh. I created a new level design for Code Zombie, I have to go with a solid floor for an acceptable speed. It looks boring, I know. I'll probably throw some stuff on the walls and modify the doors. The game will probably flicker because the way I want the level to work, if its horrendous, I can change it up. The last game is mini-golf, I haven't done anything to it yet (it should've been a simple game), I know I have to fix the border reading and hole reading and a lot of other stuff. I don't understand how it could find the border sometimes but not always, and NEVER find the hole. Its got major issues. The levels will be changed to match the ones for the OUYA version, I might rewrite the whole thing.

I just haven't been focusing lately. My mind wanders about and I move from project to project without getting anything (major) done.

Computer Projects and Ideas / MTD for the OUYA
« on: May 20, 2014, 01:43:13 am »

Here's a tower defense game I'm making for the OUYA. It's on hold until I get my new computer, this one is just too slow to do much of anything really. You just destroy the enemies before they destroy your towers and make it through. The other game is a mini golf game. I had the dumb idea that I could merge pinball and mini golf into a crazy little game but they have completely opposite goals. It's kinda boring, some Box2D physics gone to waste :(

TI Z80 / MiniGolf for the +C

I know this is adding to my list of unfinished projects, but I'm going to put up a video of MiniGolf, my unfinished entry for Cemetech's lightning contest. Mario and Code Zombie will be completed before this gets any progress but I am working on a line and vector routines right now (vector routines ripped/modified from an old Spectrum game).

TI-BASIC / QR Converter
« on: November 23, 2013, 09:41:30 pm »
This program will take a QR code image (or any black and white image) and convert it to a TI-BASIC program that uses pxl-on() commands to display it. I can't say that its efficient, pxl-on commands take up more space than a compressed 1bit image. It sets the color to black, adds X and Y offsets, and doubles the resolution so that it can be read by QR code readers. Note that the demo program uses 18k bytes of RAM!

Here's a mockup of the game coming out after Jumper and Mario. Its called Code Zombie and its inspired by Sean Conners' Nazi Zombies. I know its early, but its looking good so far!

Humour and Jokes / Eminem is the best rapper ever!!!
« on: November 10, 2013, 05:47:43 am »
Just listenin to his new album, check this line out: 'if it wasn't for blowjobs bitch you'd be unemployed!'  :w00t:

God damn, I swear to god, I could sit here and write out his whole album, this shit is crazy!!!!

If you don't have it, go get it right now and prepare to have your mind blown!!!!!!!!!!

I listen to all types of music, rap, country, pop, big band, dub step, practically anything that sounds good from dolly parton, frank sinatra, michael jackson, jay z, skrillex, and back to garth brooks, but eminem defines music, and is the most creative, intelligent musician ever........

TI Z80 / Jumper for the +C
« on: November 09, 2013, 06:18:26 pm »
The players have spoken! Jumper is going to be a game based off of the jumping games such as DoodleJump and PapiJump. You basically keep jumping on platforms to see how high you can get. This game will use a modified Buttonz engine so speed shouldn't be an issue and it should be released quick.

*Make your own character!*

Post your 8x8 sprite here and it will be featured in the character selection screen along with your name in a credits screen or  (space issue) help file!
PNG or BMP formats are the best.

If space becomes an issue (probably not), I will have a vote to select the favorites.

TI Z80 / Mario for the +C
« on: November 09, 2013, 06:07:25 pm »
Now that PacMan has finished up the so called 'Bundle' (shoulda seperated the topics!), its time to introduce some more games. An update to PacMan will be released soon to address the bugs, by the way. I'm going to be working on a game based off of SMB1. I'm going to predict that moving around will be slow and the screen has a bunch of leftover room in the sky so levels will be created around that. I still haven't decided on any power ups, but the ability to push blocks around may play into the multi-tiered levels. By next week I should have a demo released displaying the speed of a basic Mario sprite moving around a background. I will be sending the basic flow of the engine to tr1p1ea to get some feedback but basically its going to be 160 width partial images looping around the 320 width base image updated line by line. Just a note, its faster to scroll the base image then using partial images, which is why I kept Tunnel using the full 320 resolution, but 160 mode is faster at drawing double size sprites. I may make two different versions and take a vote!

TI Z80 / [Contest 2013] [asm] Scarface
« on: September 30, 2013, 04:56:29 pm »
This game will be part strategy and part action. Your goal is to grow your empire by buying/selling drugs and taking out the competition. I'll post some mockups in a few days. After the contest, I'll port what I can to the +C.

TI Z80 / Snake TI84+C
« on: September 23, 2013, 12:14:52 am »
Here's a mockup of my next game Snake.

I'm working on this game and PacMan which is in the TI84+C Bundle topic. I've been pretty lazy today, maybe a demo will come soon.

Miscellaneous / Whats the deal with chavs?
« on: August 20, 2013, 09:58:46 pm »
I never get out, just sit in front of my monitor watching youtube videos when I should be coding... I've never been to England, and I was wondering whats up with chavs??? Do they just go around and harass people? What defines a chav? I'd love to go over there and see for myself. I'm always curious of other peoples 'lifestyles' I'd guess you say, and I always wonder what it's really like. I check news in other countries but I can never be sure if its watered down by the time I see it or something.

TI Z80 / TI84+C Bundle
« on: August 15, 2013, 05:05:46 pm »
I've decided to bundle Tunnel with 2 other games. A demo video on Tunnel (thanks to Hayleia) will be released as soon as I fix a line routine . One other game will be Frogger and the other (oldschool) game will not be mentioned until I put out the demo and I'm confident that it can run at a decent speed and fit with the other 2.

TI Z80 / Creating TI84+C programs with Assembly Studio 8x
« on: August 12, 2013, 10:56:00 pm »
I may start a video series on programming the TI84+C. I got a couple of requests to show how I create programs and I created this video. (I also refer them here to find me ;))

It's long but I try to go over everything necessary to get started and I include links to find everything needed.

Is anyone interested in it?

Other Calculators / You still have time TI!
« on: August 10, 2013, 04:42:58 am »
I was watching the vid on the DJ's Tunnel game for the HP Prime. That's gangster. There is still time TI, school hasn't started yet, bump up the processor in the +C. Even just 20Mhz would be appreciated. Better yet, switch to an ARM processor. They're fast and cheap....

I'm going to make a tunnel game in assembly on the +C to compare to the Prime. Then I'm going to cry myself to sleep...
