TI Calculators / A USB keyboard doesn't really work on TI-4 + CE or Nspire Python

I was under the impression that it would work but only to find out that it works a lot better under TI-BASIC than in Python app, where it fails to do any symbols on top of the number keys etc. so it's useless in either calculator's python environment. I don't do TI-BASIC but if you do it, does a keyboard work well for you?

TI Calculators / Ti innovator hub protocol with the calculator?

I wonder if there is any documentation of how the calculators (84+CE or Nspire CXII) talk to an innovator hub with sensors and LEDs. I'm guessing USB bulk transfers but is it some generic protocol such as a USB to UART protocol or something that Ti designed itself? I'm interested to see if I can make a compatible device for the calculators to connect to.
