Hey guys!

If you followed last days (from Monday actually) conversations on #omnimaga or #nspire-lua, you've probably noticed I was attempting to use a Nintendo DS battery pack instead of the AAA batteries (which are getting more expensive these days) and instead of the official battery pack, which is difficult to find in France.

Just before telling you what I did, i'd like to be honest with you: you must not use/host/edit my pics without my permission. As some TI-Planet's pics were stolen and edited, I do not want this to happen to me.

Now, let's start off!

The official battery pack has the following characteristics: 3.7V and 1060mAh, so 3.92Wh. That battery is difficult to find in France (as I said 4 lines above) and really expensive: it's 1/4 of the price of a 2nd-hand TI-Nspire in France!
As some of you may not know, the battery pack can only be used on TI-Nspire TouchPad, which PCB includes a battery pack slot with 4 pins. If you have a Nspire ClickPad or don't even own a TI-Nspire, don't do what I did!!

If you're in that case, you will only have to use those expensive AAA batteries which are used by every manufacturer. These batteries have a life which depends of your use of the calculator. I personally belong to the intensive-users category..

It's when I found an old Nintendo DS Lite battery pack that I wondered if I could make it supply my TI-Nspire.. I didn't want to solder anything, so I just checked the thickness.... which is one of the problems: the NDS battery pack is thicker than the official battery pack. I had to push strongly on the back of the calc to close it more or less correctly...

As I didn't know what the 4 pins were used for, I decided to go on IRC and ask anyone.. Adriweb had a very pertinent answer: 2 +, 2 -.. One + for charging, one + to be used normally, one - to be charging and the last one to be used normally.
He was right! As I was sure that the pins, up to down, were ++--, I only used one wire for each sign, which means I have soldered only 2 wires to my battery pack.....
In order to know if it would be detected successfully by the calc, I prefered to keep the batteries inside and solder the battery pack like that: ++--. I then had a very strange message from the OS: In the "Status" menu, next to the battery pack icon, was blinking a "Warning" triangle. The pins aren't ++--, but --++... The OS detected the battery pack!! After having unsoldered and soldered correctly the battery pack, as well as removing the AAA batteries, it works!!

So here are some pictures of my experiment, with a Proof of Concept video, which is temporary because I need to use a real camera, not my phone ;)

Miscellaneous / Definitely retiring from coding
« on: June 25, 2011, 10:34:45 am »
Hi and goodbye everyone.

As my dad explicitely forces me to stop coding, i'm now retiring from coding. I may be still on the IRC sometimes, but i don't think so, depends on my dad.
He will receive a copy of this message, in order for him to understand how much i like coding and doing calculator stuff.

Other Calculators / Ndless Ultimate Pack
« on: May 21, 2011, 02:10:36 am »
Hi to everybody!!

After having made a pack containing all the stuff you need to CAS a non-CAS TI-Nspire, I'm gonna make a Ndless ULTIMATE pack, containing Ndless r392 and all games and progs which require Ndless. So if anyone created a program which is not on the list below, send me a PM with a download link of your program, or send me an email with the program attached as a ZIP file (I also accept RARs).

Programs already included:
-Ndless 2 r392;
-Norse;
-gbc4nspire (clickpad+touchpad version);
-nDoom;
-MineSweeper;
-nes4nspire;
-Block Dude 1 and 2;
-Chips Challenge;
-nTris;
-Snake;
-Fast Snake;
-mViewer;
-NCaster;
-Nplayer;
-Nspire Ebook Reader;
-Nwriter.

All these programs have been already added to the pack. If you are the author of one of those programs and you don't want your program to be in this archive, send me  a PM. All the README files are going to be translated in French, as some of them are only in English :/

Hello everybody!

I'm proud to announce I finished the translation of critor's How-To "Transform your TI-Nspire non-CAS into TI-Nspire CAS"

Download it here or here http://ti.bank.free.fr/index.php?mod=archives&ac=voir&id=3517

TI Z80 / [Open Source User Interface] TextUI 1.0
« on: April 21, 2011, 10:39:24 am »
I've been thinking about it for quite a while, and I finally dare posting a topic about it! What it? I'm talking about TextUI, one of the first OpenSource User Interface available for all TI-Basic programs!

My idea is to give to beginners and more advanced coders an easy way to have their programs' user interface. It's a friendly one, with no Menu( command, no GRAPH command (slow to display)!

What is TextUI?

TextUI is an Open Source User Interface which you can use freely in your programs, instead of Menu( commands. The only condition is to use it in an Open Source prog.

If some people are interested in helping me to get this project real (it's abstract for the moment), just PM me  ;)

Introduce Yourself! / Less and less here
« on: January 08, 2011, 10:12:04 am »
Hi guys,

as some people could have noticed, I haven't been on Omnimaga for a week.
This is because I now live with my father, and also because I don't get good marks at school. This is why I can only go on the computer on weekends, so don't worry if I don't answer to any messages on weeks, because I'll read then on weekends.

Introduce Yourself! / Hi, I'm rayquaza59!
« on: November 28, 2010, 04:36:19 am »
Hi!

I'm rayquaza59. I live in France (North of France, 59 is the zip code (not part of my date of birth;D)) and I'm 15 metres long.
I had a TI-83+.fr and a TI-30XB Multiview (which still work)
I only know TI-Basic, but I'm planning to learn Axe Parser when I'll get a new calc..

If some of you have troubles in French, I may help them with their grammar/spelling, I'm a bilingual (french-english, and I'm learning spanish, german and italian.)

Other Calculators / A choice to make between a Casio and a TI
« on: November 27, 2010, 10:52:28 am »
Hi guys!

as you know, my calc disppeared 2-3 weeks ago. I'm losing hope to get it back, so I've been looking on 2nd hand material websites (sorry, French ones  :-\), and there are two models that are cheap.

Firsteval there is this TI-84+SE which costs 40€ (53$)
SEcondly there is this Casoi Graph85SD which also costs 40€ (53$)

I'm embarrassed because I don't know which is the best one, and as I saw in a few source codes in my maths book, Casio Basic is easy to learn....
Of course, as ScoutDavid told me, this is very cheap, but the problem is the choice between one of these calcs  :-\

[FR] Hors-Sujet / Qu'est-ce qui vous a poussé à vous inscrire sur Omni?
« on: November 26, 2010, 12:34:10 pm »
Salut!

Math and Science / English homework: calculator ad
« on: November 24, 2010, 12:30:19 pm »
HI everyone!

My english teacher gave us a little homework in order to prepare ourselves to our mid-term exam (in 2 weeks). We have to create an advert using 15 devices (I thinks he means figures of speech), and I chose to create an ad about a "not real" new version of the TI-84+SE.

So I would need help to get a picture of a modified calc (a painted one, I mean) and stupid features to make it more funny ;D
The homework is due on Monday the 29th, so I have a bit of time, but I don't really know what to include in it: I have the structure (zigzag effect with the pictures), but I need the content (in french we call it "la forme"(shape) et "le fond" for the footer thing (sorry guys, really difficult to explain it clearly :/ )

Thanks to anyone who could help me with this task! ;) ;)

Other Calculators / Patching a calculator???????????
« on: November 13, 2010, 07:06:46 am »
Hi!

I've seen on this forum many people talking about patched TIOS. What's this and how do we do this :D?

Thanks to anyone answering rapidly!

Salut!

J'ai vu sur le forum beaucoup de membres parlant de OS patchés sur les calculettes. Qu'est-ce que c'est et comment on le fait :D?

Merci à quiconque pourra me répondre rapidement!

TI Z80 / [PROJECT] SimpleCS
« on: November 12, 2010, 09:15:07 am »
Hello everybody!!

That's my little OS shell, called SimpleCS (yeah, it has a name!!!! :D)

Features:

1) Very small: less than 7000 bytes (actually it's about 6600 bytes)
2) Can setup the calculator more easily (Degree/Radian, Fix/Float, Sci). It can also change the name or the password, erase all the variables, but I'm still working on it because when I run my Tamagotchi and then my shell, everything from my Tamagotchi is erased  :'( /!\It is in another program, so that both are independant. Sadly, I didn't save it, and someone stole my calc  :o >:( :-[ :'(
3) Can calculate Pythagore's Theory (sorry, I'm French, I don't know how it's named in english ;D), GCD, LCM, Statistics, areas (circle and this)
4) Can calculate special numbers for economy (in France, for francophones: élasticité, variation relative et taux de variation)
5) A program called TI-MSN, and BlackJack, Snake and Tic-Tac-Toe (these games are not running on the GRAPH screen, I'm very bad at GRAPH screen programming  :-\)
6) Protected by password of anytype, can contain number as well as letter. /!\  This feature is in another program (the simplest in the world, just 1 line)
7) Displays your name at startup  :) (the most useful feature.....)

The problem is that it's in French, so the attached file is the french version. I also have the source code in a .txt document (available, just PM me and I will send it to you ;D)
If you encounter any problem, tell me ;)

For the password:

Input "PASSWORD?",Str9

For the username:

Input "USERNAME?",Str4

TI-BASIC / Application booting just after turning on
« on: October 25, 2010, 08:32:38 am »
Hi everybody!

I'd like to know if it was possible to boot a program (stored in RAM, of course  ;D) just when we turn on the calculator. Prereferably on TI-Basic or ASM (although I don't know  how to program in ASM  ::))
