although pulling out the calculator out of my book bag and start punching in numbers would be a lot faster and more convenient than dragging out my laptop from my book bag and starting up the ti software that cost at least two to three minutes to start using. but still, the principal still stand. i feel my privileges has been taken away for a software that i payed for. that software is a compliment of the calculator and i should be entitled to installed it on "my" computer should i have to upgrade to a new one or a replacement laptop under warranty. this whole one computer activation ordeal is baloney. what if when i get that new 13" retina display laptop from apple and three months later the hard drive died or the logic board died and apple have to replace those and i'm forced to do a reinstall of the os, so now what, i'm going to have to re-install that bogus ti student software again, and then just to find that i cant activate it because i have already used up my one time pass activation key.

Tam,

Thank you for contacting Texas Instruments.

I understand that you have questions about how to activate your TI-Nspire student software on a second computer. I will be more than happy to answer your questions about the activation process for the software and its license agreement.

The software that comes free with the handheld is designed to be installed and activated on a single computer. Per the license agreement it is not transferable. If you activated it on one computer and wish to have it on a second computer you will need to purchase a new license for that computer.

As an alternative you may download and install the free TI-Nspire computer link software. This software allows for transferring of TI-Nspire documents to and from the computer but will not allow you to open and work on the documents on your computer. To download the software please visit the link below.

Below is a list of available configurations along with their suggested retail price if you wish to purchase a new license.

• TI-Nspire student software - 365 day subscription - $27.50
• TI-Nspire student software - perpetual license- $112.00
• TI-Nspire CAS student software - 365 day subscription - $29.50
• TI-Nspire CAS student software - perpetual license- $119.00

You may purchase it from Texas Instruments directly by visiting the link below.

hi,
i just recently purchase a ti nspire cx cas and used the provided activation code for the connect software on my mac laptop. however, i'm looking to upgrade to a newer laptop in a few months, can i have the activation code deactivated on my old laptop and transfer it to my new laptop?

thanks

Tam

This is the main reason why hackers are so active. TI like M$, Apple, etc only care about the dough and not that much about the students. That's the sad and raw reality. So, I say, thumbs up to the hackers community. ;D

but i don't want to do that. i mean yeah, i can go to a torrent site to download the software or find ways to crack the activation, or even worse go to a local stables/office depot store and buy another calculator for the activation key and return the calculator to the store. but that's stealing. i want own the software through buying it legitimately; a pride of owning it.

i'm currently using a 13" macbook pro laptop for school right now, and i'm looking forward to getting the newer 13" retina macbook pro when it comes out. and probably any other newer greater laptop comes along by apple, and this one machine activation is certainly an inconvenient.

yeah, or just buy the calc for the student software and sell the device as brand new never used for a reduce price. haha

oh well. i was hoping for more positive success rate.
i'll give them a call on monday and see what they have to say. if things don't look up then this calculator is going back to the big lady.

hello folks,
i just recently purchased an nspire cx cas calculator and learned that the student software can only be activated on a single computer after i have already activated the software on my computer. my situation is that i'm looking to upgrade to a newer laptop in a few months and need to have my student software activated on the new machine. i emailed ti support about my situation and haven't got a respond. now i'm thinking of returning the calculator back to the store and wait until i get my new computer and buy the calculator again. but i prefer not to do this since it is a hassle and i need the calculator and i'm using it for my class right now.

does any of you have situation similar to this where you have to get new activation for the newer computer you purchased or replacement computer from warranty.
what do you think are the success rate on something like this?
this whole single machine activation bull crap is so inconvenient. it seems like they are out to get the legitimate buyer, but the crook who crack the software can use it in anyway they like without spending a coin or get a slap on their wrist.
