Site Feedback and Questions / Edit an article?« on: August 03, 2017, 03:31:44 pm »
The articles section of Omnimaga contains an article that was copied from a topic that I wrote: https://www.omnimaga.org/articles/?sa=view;article=84 (copied from https://www.omnimaga.org/casio-prizm/prizm-icon-design-guidelines/)
However, the article is rather out of date. It doesn't include important changes to the wording that were made in 2015, and the embedded Photobucket images that I was using aren't working anymore. How can I edit the article to bring it up to date with the topic? (I just get the message "You can not edit articles." when I press the edit button.) Or alternatively, can someone edit it for me? 3
TI Calculators / Re: Flash apps for TI-89 series« on: August 03, 2017, 10:02:30 am »What reason could they possibly have for not allowing third party operating systems and requiring applications in a specific format to be signed, if they're still fine with letting you run whatever unsigned code you want in the stock OS just by using a different application format that has the same level of access to the system as everything else? If they don't have any problem with people running unsigned code with full access on their calculators, why would they care more about one format or method of execution than another? There is a very small amount of paid apps (at least for the 83+/84+ – I don't know much about the 68k calcs). The limitations on app signing, combined with the 83+/84+ trying to prevent you from having more than 8 kilobytes of executable code in RAM, were likely intended to hinder piracy of paid apps. 4

Wait, so TI is actually admitting that TI-84+SEs have more than 24 KiB of RAM? I thought they never would do that

It could probably fit in Cemetech's archives. In fact, there already seems to be an old version of it there: https://www.cemetech.net/programs/index.php?mode=file&id=779

Miscellaneous / Re: Outlook Express« on: June 08, 2014, 05:49:31 am »
Outlook Express isn't included with newer versions of Windows. Microsoft's new email client is called Windows Live Mail (and is part of the "Windows Essentials" package), but there are of course also other clients that you can try if you want to, like Mozilla Thunderbird.

News / Re: Nspire 3.9 available, blocks 3.6+Ndless« on: June 03, 2014, 11:32:04 am »Did they even try to fix or improve anything with the Nspire in the past ? AFAIK, it's been locked down since day 1.The addition of Lua was a pretty big improvement over the Nspire's TI-BASIC. Their stance on native code hasn't changed, though. 9

Private servers take over!« on: May 16, 2014, 04:29:16 pm »If I buy a Wii in 3 months for some reason, I of course won't have access to official Nintendo WFC servers but will I have access to those ones even if I didn't register when the official ones where online ?Yes, I think so. The point of registering now is keeping your current Friend Code and data from Nintendo's servers. 10
Axe / Re: Running axe software on CSE (no gfx)« on: April 16, 2014, 10:41:05 am »Ah ok. I just wanted to see if my sid dump player works on a CSE without modifying it.Probably not, but I guess it's worth a try if you don't mind horrible crashes I will disassemble the program I created using axe and change the remaining bcalls. Is there a bcall map available for the CSE yet?I know that there are a few bcalls at WikiTI, but that's definitely not all of them. 11
Axe / Re: Running axe software on CSE (no gfx)« on: April 16, 2014, 10:29:16 am »
Indeed, the first mismatch is just the time inside the comment added by TI-Connect, and the last one is the checksum. The second one is the "version" byte. If it's higher than the OS expects, I think you get an ERR:VERSION. The third one (two bytes) is actually part of the program data itself - the header of an assembly program is different on the CSE. So yes, if you changed the version byte and program header and recalculated the checksum, you can run the code on both calculators. But since there are a lot of differences between the two OSes, such as addresses of bcalls and free RAM areas, it would be hard to write code that works.
EDIT: Oh, it's in Axe. That probably makes it even harder to write OS-independent code, since the low-level routines are provided by Axe instead of written by you. 12

TI-Boy SE - Game Boy Emulator For TI-83+SE/84 / Re: It's coming.« on: February 16, 2014, 07:40:49 am »GS only provides proper color if it detects the GSC hardware, and I assume that it also would try to use other non-emulated features of the hardware if it detects it. If it doesn't detect a GBC but the console tries to run the game GBC-style anyway, you get some pretty weird colors, like 1:22 and on in this video:Correction: Those games ARE Gameboy games. They were released right when the Gameboy Color was first released and so retained backwards compatibality with the Gameboy. I can prove this because I have a Gameboy original that can play Pokemon Silver. When run on a Gameboy, it simply uses monochrome textures.Oh, and would Pokemon Gold and Silver be in color? Because they work on the Game boy, but they are in color. 14
