Sounds about right. Dang, they really should have thought the whole programming aspect through more thoroughly. 27.8 MB of storage space and that ARM processor running at ~ 75 MHZ would mean some really amazing games.
With the operating system running I wonder what the actual program run clock speed is.
Imagine, if the processor was just half again as fast as the 89Ti then a quake like 3D engine wouldn't be out of the question any longer. Neither would a full screen 3D engine.
What is the MHz speed of the Motorola 68k anyways? surely it's not any where near 75 MHz.
Does it support Apps? If so then the problem of development may be solved right there. Just hack an app to run code in the form of a native text document and there you go. Instant games. I hear there's a "document" editor on there. So perhaps there's hope yet.

Reading about the Nspire, I came across this http://education.ti.com/guidebooks/ti-nspire_cas/TI-NspireCAS_Guide_Part1_EN.pdf it shows a picture of the memory capacity and it's 27.8 MB! o.o wow the nspire sounds like it really could be a good platform for development, actually. Why did DJ imply that the Nspire would not support gaming? Is there some kind of ASM program protection? because that has not stopped the TI community in the past. It even has a reset button! Wouldnt that come in handy if you crash your calc?

Well if I ever got really good at building electronics then perhaps we could get a team together to build a calc. not a very good chance of that happening though.

Wow I just looked up the HP50g's specs and it has a 75MHz ARM9 processor.

That might be pushing it, with the cost of Flash ROM production on the rise. (I heard it on NPR, it's expected to drop soon though) The color lcd might be hard to sell to them also because of the practical application aspect. I like your thinking though, are you going to email them with your ideas?

I have an idea, let's all go to TI's website and write comment/suggestions to them saying that we'd buy a new calc if it had; 1. A backlight 2. A folding screen. (that's nifty) 3. Was slimmer. 4. Had a high resolution screen like the V200. 5. Perhaps a faster processor. etc. Maby if we get enough people to do this then they'd take the suggestions seriously. what do you think?

I'm heading off to Asheville for the weekend. When I get back I'll see about fixing the hostage code, I've already got some ideas of how to make the hostages' sprites directional. Also I've got an idea of how to make the hostages stop following you and run to the escape pod when they "see" it. It should be fairly simple. Anywho, I'm going tonight, and I'm going to see the new morning gallery art show. I'll take some pictures if you all want to see. When I get all the 26th level stuff done, hostage code, bugs fixed, graphics prettied up etc..., I'll release the current beta as a public beta. I may have already said this but whatevs. This short break should give me some ideas, usually when I step back from a project for a while I get some more ideas. See you all later! Peace. Fire.

Thanks for the welcome. I should be releasing the newest beta soon it has 26 levels and a bunch of new features and tasks. EDIT: [Redundant Alert!:] A notable new feature is the new death scene. When the player dies, the camera moves foreward and whips around to see the player's character fall over and die. It looks pretty cool. [/Redundant Alert!] Ha ha I didn't realize I had already announced that here. /EDIT I'll announce it on here when it comes out. As well as on other forums.

Yea lol Je pense que j'apprendrai cependant. C'est possible. But you'll have to bear with the lack of accents because it'd take too long to put them in by hand one by one. btw I got my computer back today and the first thing I did after installing windows was to install both AVG Free Antivirus and Norton Internet Security, then I installed Microsoft Anti Spyware. My computer is a digital fortress! (internet security has a firewall, antivirus, anti spam/spyware and some parental controls stuff that I dont use )

Unfortunately no, there's currently no 3D engine that supports that for the 68k series. Perhaps if I become more skilled (much more) I could attempt to build one. But as of now, there's only one good engine, the FAT engine, and FAT stands for Fixed Angle Texturing, meaning all walls and corners and such are 90 degrees and there's no variable Z axis. But so far I think I've been making due pretty well. When I have my good computer back I'll be advancing this project much faster. Btw DJ, do you have the time/interest to do a little beta testing? If so just let me know in a PM or something.

haha It's all broken but at least it's readable. I've been trying to learn for several years and I just dont get enough practice, perhaps thanks to wonderful Omnimaga forums I'll be able to practice.
