A couple things; make sure you have good batteries. Ti connect doesnt send/receive when the batteries are low. You can also try to find someone with another calculator and a link cable. Try seeing if you can send or receive that way. Link ports have actually been known to break.

I actually have two fonts ready that i was working on for something else. The are based on an NES style font. One is 5x7 and one is 5x5. The other custon one I'm working on is based off of the font in Dragon Warrior 1&2 for GBC.

I forget where, but you can find a candle or torch somewhere that lights up those places. If you really want to try to play through it, you could always check gamefaqs.com. And yea, it is pretty damn confusing trying to figure out where to go and what to do in that game.
