Pokemon style movement is pretty traditional for RPGs. It should work fine. :) Also, have we discussed having a seamless overworld (pokemon) or a map based one (Final Fantasy IV/VI)?

Also Xeda,How many frames are you going to allow per animated tile? I don't think we need but 2 or 3.

Casio Calculators / Re: Old school Casio calculator watches...
« on: December 11, 2012, 08:14:03 am »
update: I need one very important part: the microcontroller which has not arrived yet. I started writing and testing the firmware a few days ago using an arduino. Now, as some of you might have heard on the IRC, it has got an onboard brainf**k interpreter and it can keep track of time and date. I wrote 10kB of code so far (compiled) and I have 20k of program space left.

It has got 3 buttons for user input and a 84*48px backlit lcd display.

This is breadboarded up for now, but when all of the parts are here I can build the watch.

That, my friend is awesome. :D I wondered why you were asking for font info for the other day (for a watch) This explains it! :D
*edit*
I'm kind of surprised you haven't made a topic about it showing off the process etc.

In 2013 I think they should feature Bubble Bobble.

Oh, it's going to happen ;)

It's been on my "news to write" pile since I started.

Also, as a quick correction, there are actually 15 entires, 7 more than last year.

Bubble Bobble was never featured? ??? Wow, thats rather shocking. Dwedit did an amazing job on it. It has all levels and even includes link play!

@Leafy: Those were games that were retroactively featured this year, as the staff felt they were over looked originally. :) Good luck to everyone. Also Congrats Deep thought on having 3 of the 14 entries (the most of any author this year).

Actually, it doesn't have to be only left/right. There are many different ways turn based could be done.
*edit* More thoughts
I haven't played Pokemon mystery dungeon, but I checked it out on Youtube. The battle system it uses looks pretty good. I defintely think we could use something similar. I may have to find a copy and check out the battle system further. :)
Hmm... On the other hand, Something more Final Fantasy IV/Chrono Trigger like or Earthbound like Might allow for larger and more Epic looking sprites (especially bosses). Hmm...

keep in mind when voting that it'll probably be a action RPG :P
Actually turn-based is ahead now. However, people should vote based on what they think will work/look best regardless.

I think speed is more important in this case. We don't know what else will be added that might slow things down.

@augs I thought we were going to do something semi-omnimaga related tho

Oh OK then. Better make this into it's own game or something.
We don't *have* to, but that seems to be what people want to do. Don't be afraid to make suggestions, afaik nothing has been nailed down yet.
Yeah but good for fighting mobs! Or is the combat turn based?
right, it's arpg, well, we don't do map design, so... :P
we should continue with the story thought. Did we add anything i didn't catch? all i catched is from that big update on the wiki.
That hasn't yet been determined either. The battle engine discussion topic still has a lot of debate going on as to which direction we are going to take.

Hey guys!

Just seen this game and it seems very promising! The only problem is that I've got a Nspire CX CAS and not a TI-83 or 84... Is there a solution?

DerSandmann.

Yea, buy a ti84+. :p Welcome to omnimaga by the way! Even though there is no portal game for the nspire, there are quite a few other cool programs around. Why not take a look? :)
