This is gonna be great. I love that you can actually explore the towns in this one. The inventory system seems to have shaped up quite nicley as well. Keep up the good work!

Oooh would there be tentacles involved to? O_o LoL. Seriously though, those tiles look really great. I could definetly seem something like this being used in a calc game as well.

Well if you want graphical and speed you need libs basics just too slow for graphics.
Actually it is possible to do graphics with playable speed without using something like xlib to draw sprites (I assume this is what you mean). True it wouldn't be as fast or as smooth as X-lib or Celtic's sprite drawing function, but it would still be playable. It would depend highly on game engine design (No scrolling obviously, you would explore screen by screen kind of like in the first Legend of Zelda title) and would have to use hard-coded sprites. I might still use a lib if i go with this method though only to read program lines from archive. ^_^

I know there haven't been updates in a while so here's where I'm at: Im currently re-organizing this as the source is all in peices. Im gonna map it out on paper and make sure I'm not missing anything. Then it's just a matter of putting it back together. Most of the coding is actually done, so it should be too long. After this I think I'll attempt a small BASIC RPG, afterall Omnimga is THE home of RPG's right? Don't know if it'll be pure BASIC or BASIC with LIBS. Either way I want to do something graphical.

I'd say all this really depends on space. Text seems to take up quite a large chunk. I don't think I'd really miss this feature were you to exclude it.

It's really not to bad and has ALOT of content. But it does require a shitload of level grinding as your stats get alot higher. It is also rather addictive. =P

I also want to say that since you're doing alot more planning and taking it at a slower pace, it shows in the work. This looks like it's gonna be really great and I can't wait to see the final product. I think perhaps working at a slower pace is better. =)
