General Discussion / Re: Now Playing
« on: September 07, 2008, 08:08:08 pm »
As far as new music goes, If you like power metal Dragonforce's new album is available and is pretty good It incorporates more keyboards and shows growth and experiment . Metallica's new album (Death magnetic) which debuts sept. 12 is absolutley horrible. If anyone is considering buying it i recommend that you find a way to sample it before you decide on buying it. I thought that they hit bottom of the barrel with St. Anger (their previous album) but this one is much worse. St. Anger at least had a couple of songs that were ok, but this one has none. Style wise the new album is all thrash/speed metal, With one slower song and one instrumental. James Hetfield's vocal style on this album continues to degrade from what was established in St. Anger, as in more of the same and he sounds crappier doing it. The composition of the songs is chaotic and they can't seem to decide what they wanted to do with them. The guitar solos return in prominence on this album, and they are technically good, but they seem out of place in the songs as if they were just randomly tossed in. Most songs seem to have tempo changes in odd places and for no particular reason . This was showcased on one song that started off slow and sound really prety and then they change the tempo and went off in an entirely different direction. Metallica was one of the first metal bands I really got into, and it really hurts me that they seem to have completley lost all musical direction. :( Anyways, I hope I can save someone who was anticipating the album the let down they would have expirenced had they purchased it.

Site Feedback and Questions / Re: Download section
« on: September 05, 2008, 04:32:28 pm »
I'm glad you were right about that, and that enabling HTML for the boards allowed it to be used in the download system also. On a side note, I looked into PHP and it seems to have alot of similarities to C/C++ or basic. It supports strings, lists, and even has conditional statments ! I going to learn it in my free time, it looks like it'll be really easy to pick up.
*Edit* I just realized that I spelled section "scetion" in the topic title. Doh!

About the screen shots, wouldn't it be possible just to add them on the page where the zip is? Could you expand upon what you were saying about creating a new download system as well, I'm not exactly sure what you mean. When you say it doesn't support html that is odd because the board itself supports html for the posting of pics.

I'd say MLC has been sucessful. TI-86, several CASIO calcs, a TI-89 version nearing completion, and an unfinshed TI-83 version floating around somewehere. That ain't bad at all.

Im definitley gonna check these out. The grayscale is relevant to what I am currently working on. I don't know if I will use this routine, but I want to see how you guys choose to implement it. Thats too bad about the small space for file uploads. Perhaps you could find somewhere that offers a small amount of space that we could use (For mostly calc programs it wouldnt need to be much).
