Geeze, i got my logitech optical mouse some time ago when my old mouse bit the dust and let me tell you, the difference between optical and ball mouse is phenominally diffrent. At work we still have ball mice and the move like mud compared to what I have at home. Also, ball mice seem more prone to breaking. When I was in school we couldnt keep those things in work order for nothin! I can't imagine going back !*shudders*

No
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edit: found it in my ti-89's book. inString(source string,Substring, startpoint) It basically searches for a substring within a string starting at a specifed point (If included). 5944

TI-BASIC / NPC dialogue?« on: October 27, 2007, 09:24:00 am »
I'm not familar with instring, what does it do and what arguments does it take on?
Here is what I was considering though, store all the game's text in one big string and use variables to determine start point of an npcs dialogue and then length. ie; Where; A= text start point, B=length-1. P and Q are Y and X text coordinates respectivley. code:
What I need Is somwhere withing the program structure to change the values of A and B depending on what NPC you are talking with, and i don't want to use for example; Pseudcode; QuoteBegin
That is what I am having trouble figuring out. ![]() ![]() 5946
TI 68K / Ultima V: General Discussion« on: October 27, 2007, 08:21:00 am »THE POST 13493092 Perhaps you could demonstrate how it looks with it on as opposed to off, again im not sure how your view could be unobstructed on a top down view screen as your view is limited to the screens res., and all that you can see is what fits on the screen. That is what I was trying to say. I don't understand how CLOS can be applied to a top down view game. Maybey i don't exactly understand the concept and it's implementation in this type of game. I hope im making sense and not rambling too much ![]() ![]() 5947
TI-BASIC / NPC dialogue?« on: October 27, 2007, 06:03:00 am »
I was wondering what would be the quickest way to retrieve NPC dialouge in an RPG? For example; you are standing in front of an NPC and PRESS 2nd. The program checks and verifies that there is an NPC standing in front of you and then the subroutine determines what text is to be put on the screen is run. My quesion is what would be the most efficent way to determine what text the NPC you are talking to will say. The only way I can think of is ALOT of IF statments, but I don't want it to take longer and longer to retrive text the further you progess into the game, but i can't think of a way to keep the speed from degrading over time. Can some one help me out with this, Im probably over thinking this.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this, wouldnt this be in effect on either screen? You shouldn't be able to see through solid objects regardless. I'm confused now... o.o ![]() 5949

Never played the real game, the flash game seems pretty cool though. On the downside, im stuck on level 6
![]() ![]() Edit:
No, it think the controls would be the most difficult part because sometimes you have to be able to aim and shoot while running. the game itself doesnt seem all that complex. What was this game originally made for anyways? eit: no longer stuck, that didnt take long ![]() ![]() 5951
