Wow! Lots of new features... I am only in calculus II right now so don't even need them all yet.

Hello welcome! As your post count increases you get more privileges (like using irc for example) while both are based on your post count I think that levels are more for bragging rights Right now (and probably for a while the user with the highest rating and the highest number of posts of DJ who was one of the founders of omnimaga. Good luck learning axe parser. I would definitely recommend learning it before asm. Also it may be useful if you become familiar with a standard programming language like lua or python and just mostly focus on control structures if you have little to no experience programming. If you can write simple programs in BASIC though you are probably fine.

Works now! I like the new interface. Do you think that you can put the picture vars as data inside the app... I have a lot of stuff already in my vars list even though I try to keep it at a minimum. I like the new look of the slope field generator. Keep up the amazing work!
EDIT: I will be leaving tomarrow on a trip with my family so I will be gone for a little while. 64

Every time I start the app there is the usual long pause while the app starts that I have gotten before then an error pops up saying "ERR:UNDEFINED 1:Quit" I have the same setup I had before and I have tried reinstalling the omnicalc and symbolic apps. I am doing something wrong. I have a feeling that this is something I did somehow.

I doubt it. There are different "loop-holes" that are used for both os's.

Your antivirus software might not find it. (Every app that starts in windows 8 is supposed to be check by the antivirus software that you have set.) If the virus could start and not be seen by the antivirus software the antivirus software might not define it as a virus or worse is not capable of functioning correctly due to the virus...
If your antivirus software cannot find it maybe you could try to use windows restore. Maybe you could also start in safe mode. Sorry I use linux not windows (for a reason). Oh just one important thing. If you can you should disconnect your computer from the internet, LAN, etc. You don't want you passwords and personal info to be given to some f***er or a worm virus to infect your other PC's on your network. 67

I just threw the hardest partial fractions problem my calculus book has to offer and it was right!! (I don't even think zoomMath can do partial fractions .)
(3x^3 + 1) / (x^3-x^2+x-1) The answer is 3 + (x-2)/(x^2+1) + 2/(x-1) It is hard to say what feature I like the most but I really like the partial fractions feature. (I suck at the harder ones ) I did find one small bug though in the slope field part. If you forget to enter the window values and/or the equation the program tells you what you forgot but then after pressing enter an error comes up saying "ERR:LABEL 1:Quit" It is not really a big problem but it is worth noting. 70

Opps I knew dy/dx is y'. I write down y' a bit too often I guess...
I found pi by using the arc length... To approximate pi you take the equation of a circle and solve for y x^2 + y^2 = R^2 y = +/- squareroot ( R^2 - X^2 ) We will just use the positive of the squareroot. y = squareroot ( R^2 - X^2 ) We know that the circumference of a circle = 2 * pi * r So... pi = circumference / (2*r) We will set r to 1 and taking only the positive solution of the squareroot gives half of the diameter. Therefore... pi is equal to the arc length of the half circle made by the equation: y = squareroot( 1 - x^2 ) hope that makes sense. Here's a link to wolfram alpha: https://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=integrate+%28++1%2B+%28+-x%2F%28%281-x^2%29^%281%2F2%29%29+%29^2++%29^%281%2F2%29+from+-1+to+1+with+1000+digits EDIT: I used the partial fractions integration mode and it was like a miracle it solved it! And it was really fast! Wow! I didn't think anything like this would ever show up on the ti-84 series (except really over priced ZoomMath ). 71

Just tried it and it is outstanding! Just one question. How do you enter slope equations for slope fields I can't figure it out?
BTW, I used your program to calculate pi and it was able to find: 3.141587076 I think that is a pretty accurate approximation for a ti-84. Do you have most of the rules for calculating derivatives in the app? My calculus book has about 40 derivative formulas. This app is super cool. EDIT: hey I am a level 2 member now. 72

Hmm... That error is too bad... but it won't affect me because it finally became important enough for me too downgrade from 2.55 to 2.43 I will miss a little bit about mathprint (mostly realistic square roots, logBASE, and powers) but I am sick of having to avoid doing certian things just to keep my calc from crashing due to mathprint.
Thank you sooooo much thepenguin77!!!! I have been waiting for a small text editor for a long time! You definitely earned a +1 I love how zStart works so well with omnicalc. 75
General Calculator Help / Re: What do you think can be improved on with the TI 84« on: March 12, 2014, 03:52:18 pm »
#StartRant
The ti-83 plus / ti-84 plus se is petty old (in comparison to nspire and smartphones etc.) It is actually somewhat surprizing just how long it has lasted. ( The main reason the calculator is still in use is because teachers, friends, relatives, etc. all know how to use the interface. Thus, why migrate to a new one like nsipre? Schools which have invested heavily into the ti-83 plus series will be much more hesitant. While the nspire's menu system is far more user friendly, the nspire (or any other calc) can hardly complete with the support for the ti-83 series. You can find a tutorial for probably every feature of the ti-83 series but the same is not for other calcs. If TI changed the ti-83 series sigificantly many tutorials would become useless thus making ease of use worse. In other words any update will probably add more functions (not anything like a CAS) and fix bugs. #EndRant But of course this is still a great calculator and I like it a lot (it has taught me a lot about programing and pointers with axe parser. ) |
