Elimination / Re: Elimination Test Version #1
« on: December 31, 2011, 12:58:15 pm »
Ok,I'll try the new version.
I've never really played any FPSes before, unless wolfenstein on the 9860 counts...:P
Anyway I kept running out of ammunition, and stuck with the light saber.
(also when I pressed Apps to bring up the light saber one time, it brought up the pause menu..:/)

Forgot to say, but I'm using OS 2.43: no mathprint.
Tho I do have zstart installed...?

Edit: ok I uninstalled zStart and it acted like the first time I ran it-fine through the menus then unresponsive at game-time.  Second run it acts the same, with keys swapped and etc
Now sending the new version.

Edit1: New version has same problems as the old version D:
Tried in wabbit (wabbit version from 12/22) and wabbit froze completely.  I can't get any of my old 83pse roms working so I can't check if it works for that.

First time I ran it, it froze in-game (as in, it started by not responding to keypresses then the grayscale froze :/)
Also walking right (XTΘn) doesn't work for me, however walking left does.
Mode brings up a map, and fires when you press it again to hide the map (and that fire consumes 2 ammunition), and 2nd toggles the HUD whilst firing. ???
Pressing apps brings up the light saber as it's supposed to, but only after displaying the map.
Also I'm not sure if it's supposed to be this way but initially only the handgun is accessible.  As in, pressing other top-row keys don't appear to switch weapons like in the screenies.

Btw how do you unpause, or is there a way?

Edit: if it matters, 84pbe, full 128k ram, 21k ram free when ran.

Well this happened to me a truckload of times while I was trying to make Tio have levelsets, it either overflowed the appvar I made or "L1" (Axe) and it would happen something like 8 times a day :P

...I'm guessing there's multiple ways to cause it?

I did that and it made this. So I'm just going with it. lol
There's two buttons: Post new poll makes a new topic (like this one) and Add poll just puts a poll at the top of the topic.

That u var (one of the Y= vars), iirc, is created and written to if you try to modify something that comes after L1 and/or overflow L1.
Nope.  u is one of the three variables the calculator uses during Sequential mode, like the Y0-Y9 variables it uses during Function mode.  These three variables (u, v, and w) have nothing to do with lists.
I was meaning L1 like how axe uses it as a pointer, so I'm guessing that if you write >714 bytes after saveSScreen it creates this (within a range anyway)?

Just so you know, you can add a poll to an existing topic by clicking "Add Poll" on the bottom-right ;)
..then "Remove poll" on the bottom-left when you're done with it.

Anyways I haven't played it as of yet, but it might be easier if there's the two separate keys for shooting.

Hm this looks like what I've gotten multiple times..
That u var (one of the Y= vars), iirc, is created and written to if you try to modify something that comes after L1 and/or overflow L1.  I'm guessing you tried to store something to the wrong part of the RAM :P
Not advised, but if you changed the mode of the calc from Func to Seq and pressed Y=, you'd see the var being written before a likely RAM clear.

Generally I've been able to get past the problem by archiving everything not archived (except for the u var) and clear ram.

Not sure if this has been asked before:  Is it possible to strafe, a la Maze3D II and console games?

i don't get it.. could someone explain this to me:
I mean like in wireframe-3D. Seeing you use CHokosta Tiny3D engine, then you can achieve wireframe camera rotation, right?
Basically, wireframe 3D is drawing the shape, but without the textures or anything.  Just the edges, shown as lines.

EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wire-frame_model

EDIT2: Read the rest of the topic. :P
I wonder if it would be hard to make the camera view turn a bit when moving left and right to give a bigger impression of the 3D?
I think what he means is have the point of view rotate a bit, so it seems like you're turning into the other "lane" before righting out.  Think of how it would look if you were in a car quickly changing lanes on a highway, and you stared straight forward as the car turned.
