I know it, but it is not the same thing. I speaking about re-programming a key with a custom menu. For example, if you press the trig key it will show you the trigonometrics functions and you can choose one of them. It is a more practical way to use frequently called functions and operators. I do not need the little flag key (and probably most of users do not need it!): It can be very useful to reprogram it to create a customizable menu that works like the trig menu!!

Hi all,
as some of you remember, on the old TI-86 there is a custom button that allow the user to specify some function to build a personal menu. I find this feature very useful: one does not have to go searching the functions that are frequently used. My question is: Is it possible to do the same thing on a nSpire? I have two nSpire but still using the TI-86 because of this function!!!! I frequently use conversion operators between decimal and hexadecimal. On TI-86 I have customized the custom menu adding the conversion operators so this operations are really fast and comfortable for me. On the nSpire i cannot find such feature.

I made this:
1) Downloaded from calculator the file ROMDump.86p. 2) Opened my file CA86.86p with a hex editor. 3) Opened file ROMDump.86p with a hex editor. 4) Copied first 61 bytes (from offset 0x00 to 0x3C included) from ROMDump.86p to CA86.86p. 5) Transferred CA86.86p to calculator.
Coping the "header" of a file makes the transfer possible but executing the program on the calculator produces only errors. Probably the problem is related to compatibility with older versions of TiLP??

I have upgraded to latest version. There are some problems with menus that do not appear. Not really important, I am able to try the transfer but it do not work. What appens is the same as the previous version: no message, no transfer. At the second or third try, the program will abort.

When I uploaded the files, I was using TiLP under a Linux with a serial RS232 cable. I do not remember the versions. Now I am using Windows7 with the latest TiLP version available for Windows (1.15) and a usb silver link cable. When I try to transfer my files it do not show a message. It simply do nothing. But I have test the transfer with another file: I downloaded "Blinded by the dark" game and it works really nice. I can even take screen captures. I suspect it is a problem in file format due to the transfer to/from the server: i remember that there are some differences between binary transfer and text transfer, ftp protocol and http protocol. I am investigating about this but not really sure.
PS: only now I realized that you are the developer of TiLP!!! Really thanks for your work!!

Some years ago I have written some programs for the TI-86. They are about Controls Theory and Bode, Nyquist e Nichols diagrams and can be found on my page: http://digilander.libero.it/deathrider/calcolatrici/ti/ti_86.htmlAt the time I have trasferred it with TiLP and uploaded on the host ftp. Now I want to transfer them on the TI-86, so I have downloaded them but TiLP refuse to transfer!!! Is there someone who have idea of the problem? Is there someone who can try to do the transfer?

As far as I can remember, some bugs are really really old. The angle bug can be found on the TI-86 (rom 1.6) also:

I remember from my TI-86 (now dead) that I have to compile my programs before they can be used. If I do not compile a modified program, the old version still work. I think there is something similar in the nspire: the classical compile procedure produce an executable stored somewhere and working even if you cancel the source. I hope someone can explain this.

I am not programming with Lua. I am using the editor embedded into the calculator. I think it is Ti Basic or something similar. I am using long for and while cycles in order to magnify the differences in the execution speed. I am not searching for optimize the code. I just wanted to see the differencies between the two calculators with the same OS but different hardware.
Question: I have to refresh my libraries everytime i make a mod to the source code of my program. What do exacltly the refresh? It seems to be a compilation...

Hi all, I have two calculators: a Ti nSpire CAS Touchpad and a TI nSpire CAS Clickpad. All of them have the last OS 3.1.0.392 I want investigate if they have the same execution speed so I wrote a simple program with the embeded editor. This program request as input a resistor value in ohm and gives as output the nearest combination of two resistors. I have wrote the program in way that it makes many for and while cycles and execute for 20~30 seconds before give an output. I have execute this program on the two calcultator and I have find that the Clickpad one is ~3-5 seconds faster than the clickpad one. Why? I think that the touchpad one have to spend some time in the touch part of the hardware. I am right? What You think?
