Omninet has had a large amount of the official channels renamed. Use the IRC page to see what the current standard is for naming channels ( ourl.ca/p/irc). To continue on this, there will be some downtime tonight, possibly up to two hours while Eeems runs some updates to the servers. After the updates are done, there may be some interruption to services as configuration files are updated to work with the new version. Keep an eye on Twitter or IRC to see what the current status on the upgrade is.

A few members might remember that we use to host both a teamspeak and a mumble server. Eeems has been nice enough to host a mumble server for public use again. Feel free to connect to mumble.omnimaga.org and chat away with anybody who is on. If you want to use mumble to play some games with your friends and they are not Omnimaga members, please do! Make sure to join your own temporary channel and keep your friends in line though. Standard rules still apply.

All the old forum links on the site have been converted! Only topic and post links have been converted though. The next step will be to convert the download links.
An example script for how to update an entire forum to use the correct links for omnimaga will be released soon. There are some performance issues that Eeems is trying to resolve. These issues were not a problem for us due to how powerful our VPS is, but for external sites that don't have the same stats as Omnimaga might not be able to run the conversion scripts that Eeems has created in their current form.

It may not be pretty yet, but it's functional. Ourl.ca now has a main page that you can use to shorten topic/post urls. You can also use it to convert the old post/topic ID links from before the upgrade to new ones that will now work. Please don't use this to update old posts though, we are going to run a script to update them all automatically. If you were to update it before we ran the script it would invalidate your change. You can update your posts with the new full URLs (like this: http://www.omnimaga.org/news/ourl-ca-gets-a-home-page!) generated by the forum. Updating with the generated ourl.ca link will cause the breaks when we get around to running our conversion though.

Eeems has been working on a user control panel for IRC at irc.omnimaga.org. To be able to access it you have to sign up with nickserv and then use your nickserv password/username to sign in. You can now sync your access with the forums via this control panel. If you are a CoT, ARS, Support Staff or and Admin you will get the appropriate access on the official Omnimaga channels if you run a group sync on the IRC control panel. Feel free to join IRC, register your nick and then go to irc.omnimaga.org, sign in and choose "Sync Groups" from the dropdown on the top right!

Unfortunately due to an unforeseen log leak we lost all of our IRC services information. Please feel free to re-register on irc.omnimaga.org. While you are at it, you should join the !Members group (/msg GroupServ join !Members) so that you get automatic voice on the #omnimaga channels!

http://omnimaga.org/files/In order to make Omnimaga's download section more complaint to the calcpkg project that TC01 is working on I quickly threw together an interface for it that makes it seem like it's a folder structure on the server. The folder structure is dynamically generated from the database every time you view it, so when a new upload is approved it will show up on the list!

Due to a large number of emails being sent by the server and causing lots of problems with our admin email account, I've disabled email notifications for everybody. In order to get email notifications when someone replies to a topic, you will have to go in and manually change your settings.

Last night I (Eeems) updated and deployed new IRC server for Omninet. Omninet is Omnimaga's personal IRC network. While we currently link Omninet to Efnet via OmnomIRC, we do plan on switching over to Omninet completely in the coming years. Omninet currently has 4 servers and one service server. They are laid out as shown below: omni.irc.omnimaga.org |-services.irc.omnimaga.org `-eeems.irc.omnimaga.org |-saphira.irc.omnimaga.org `-irp.irc.omnimaga.org So feel free to connect to irc.omnimaga.org and join us in #omnimaga

Hey guys, while the site feedback and questions is great for providing feedback and asking questions about the site. It doesn't work well for reporting errors and getting them fixed. I have a solution however, if you want to make sure your issue is noticed by admins who will then fix it asap, just go to http://ourl.ca/issue and log the problem.
