Miscellaneous / Re: Post your desktop

Unity sucks.
Have a try to Gnome 3 (select GNOME when you login) =)

Unity is a Gnome shell for the Gnome 3 desktop environment, just like Gnome Shell. Perhaps you mean Gnome Shell?
Erm....what?
I'm so confused at what you meant right now.

To clarify to everybody:
Unity and Gnome 3 are two very different things. One is being developed and maintained by the people behind Ubuntu, and the other by, well the people behind Gnome 2, and 1 :P
Gnome Shell is the desktop manager for Gnome 3 and as far as I know it has nothing to do with Unity. Unity came into being after a dispute on the path Gnome 3 was going to take.

So you are saying I should change what angle you can't walk on?

No, I'm saying that you should try and make it to where you'd start to slide down the slope and fall at that angle.
Hmm, I'll see if that is easy to add.

I just tried it out and I love the bobbling that comes with moving.

Something that should be worked on is the movements engine and the mountain range. I was able to climb up to the top of the mountain and jump off the other side.

<snip>

That's a loooong way down :P

Something with the climbing is that I saw I could walk across 80 degree slopes and not slide down them.
So you are saying I should change what angle you can't walk on?
Seeing your video tells me there was a LOT more wrong with it than just the mouse issue. I was viewing the character at a right angle about 10 feet away, for one :P

But still, if unity runs that well all by itself without any work then why in the world does everyone say it's impossible?

Unity desktop shell? It should run on linux...

Lol, sounds like there are still some issues with mono that need to be fixed.

Ah lol :P No, Unity makes it really easy for you to do that :P I will of course make the settings editable in game later, as well as a fps counter etc.

When you first launch this the window should pop up that looks like this:

Well, I tried it, and I found that running it in wine resulted in no mouse movement :P but other than that it worked great.

I thought Unity didn't run on linux....???
Erm, it shouldn't. I think the mouse issue is why it "Doesn't" :P If you can figure out how to get the mouse movement to work that would be cool :)
It's in TBP's subforum for a reason though :)
Something related to TBP itself? (Such as a sequel/prequel) :P

And thanks for the controls Eeems. I didn't realize we could run too.
secret :P
Np :) Btw you can change the controls before launch in the settings launcher thing, change to input. Which reminds me I should clean up the input stuff a little.

It's in TBP's subforum for a reason though :) The movement speed matches the animation, I'm trying to make it realistic. I'll try to add a sensitivity adjuster into the settings.
Yeah I noticed the start menu wasn't cleaned out correctly as well on mine, I'll fix that.

I should probably post the controls.
Sprint - left shift
Move Forwards - W
Move Backwards - S
Strafe Left - A
Strafe Right - D
Jump - Spacebar
Look Around - Mouse
Pause Menu - Esc

I'm pretty sure it's non-existant.

EDIT: Actually Portal2 has cross platform multiplayer I think. http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/18/portal-2-on-ps3-features-cross-platform-chat-multiplayer-and-a/

No I'm not ditching it. It's still in semi-Hiatus.

This is something I'm testing :) It's a secret.

Yeah, it's not for really old computers and this is windows only. If someone wants to test out a mac build let me know, I'll get it up for you right away.

EDIT: also, does the install/uninstall work without any issues at all? Does it work on non-Aero windows versions ( pre-Vista ) or do I have to make a custom installer for that?

Feel free to post and let me know if there are any issues with it. Don't worry it shouldn't damage your system in any way, as long as you don't install it to someplace stupid like C:\ or C:\Windows\ or something.

I'm pretty sure you can't play borderlands on two different types consoles together ( ie: ps3-xbox 360 or ps3-pc or pc-xbox 360 ).
You would both have to have it for the same type of console for it's multiplayer to work. I'm no expert though so I would advice googling it to see if people have made it work or not.
