Eeems: No, I actually like the interface of what I've seen or used (Ubuntu, Mint, really old Red Hat) just fine, but what I can't stand is the kooky(aka not-ntfs or fat) file system, inability to run .exe files easily (it was continually trying to open programs as archives), and driver difficulties.
Erm, linux filesystems have way better permission control then FAT. NTFS itself is copying a lot of features that ext3/4 offer (Like the permission scheme). Windows executable are archives and are not actually able to run by default on Linux. You'd have to install wine and set it so that .exe files are opened with wine to work. Linux executables (not .exe, usually they have no extension) have the executable flag flipped and thus file managers know to prompt for how to run them. Your problems with Linux sound like user training issues ;)

And yeah, I will start a topic about it after I get well started on the first prototype - I need to choose the wood as well - and while I'm at it I bet we'll need to make a new Linux topic XD
Sounds good, feel free to prod me to split this topic if you want the original thread as part of the new thread.

I can't stand Linux.
Interesting statement. There are many different flavours of Linux. Some of which look/act pretty much the same as windows. Me-thinks you have just had very little exposure to Linux and have preconceived notions as to how it acts.

That aside, you should probably start a different thread for the wooden laptop.

Almost there!

There's one more step - that last page is hiding something. Use the clues on the page to help you coerce the final answer out!
I'm just going to cheat and look for it on the server.

Wait, you guys run a server on a calc without any link port capabilities?  O.O
Of course we do. Best use for it.

621
Congrats Eeems!
Shall we expect some calc projects of you again? :P
Prolly not. You can expect something out of this for you guys though.

I'm excited for the secret project Eeems, Caleb and I were discussing on IRC. And no, I'm not planning on being selfish anymore.
Secret in a publicly logged channel ;P
Do you mean a mobile app? I would like it but then my phone would scream about lack of diskspace (which is what happens on every Facebook update, even though I use my SD card for Facebook).
It's only 24.16MB as opposed to Facebook's 101MB Shouldn't be as much of a problem

623
Wow for some reasons Ebay didn't e-mail me to warn me that the auction ended soon. It always does normally. Maybe because I bidded from Ebay.com instead of Ebay.ca. Oh well, congrats to the winner :D
I use the app to get notifications.

624
Woo! Babied that for the last 15 minutes to make sure nobody would snipe it.

Mine doesn't change anymore. I kind of miss having it crack randomly, but at the same time I don't.
My youtube channel has my voice on it, and I add new videos every so often (When I get tired of them taking up space on my hard drive)

$67 with Eeems so far.
Nobody seems to want to challenge that yet. I may want to increase max bid a little just in case.

Eeems has been nice enough to host a mumble server for public use again.

somebody should give that Eeems guy a cookie.

oh, and i might have to actually get a microphone and come bug you guys some time now.
:3 What kind of cookie?

Yes you should :P I noticed a bunch of people stop in today, but nobody stayed for long :(
We have a TeamSpeak server? (Also: Yay! Mumble!)
We had one for a while. It may still be running for all I know, but it was kind of taken over by some of Netham's acquaintances.

That was the joke :P I honestly don't like my voice much. It's too indeterminate.
At least it exists though ;P

* Sorunome sees this thing rising to over 9000 :P
Nah, I'll probably stop around $100

News / Mumble server up again
« on: June 17, 2014, 05:53:39 pm »
A few members might remember that we use to host both a teamspeak and a mumble server. Eeems has been nice enough to host a mumble server for public use again. Feel free to connect to mumble.omnimaga.org and chat away with anybody who is on.
If you want to use mumble to play some games with your friends and they are not Omnimaga members, please do! Make sure to join your own temporary channel and keep your friends in line though. Standard rules still apply.
