Yes it is. I think it has something to do with the lack of some features like an easier to browse new posts section and the lack of notifications on new topics in OmnomIRC. Also the broken links on other sites might not help.

Cemetech and ticalc.org seemed rather quiet as well, though, same for MoHPC, so it might be more of a community slump than just Omni.

Things might pick up again as people get used to the new Omni site, though, especially now that to register, you have the option of doing it with Facebook/twitter/etc, which takes less time (most people today are too lazy to fill registration forms anymore).
New topic notifications in OIRC work. New posts have multiple different pages to view them omnimaga.org/unread omnimaga.org/recent omnimaga.org/replies

It is pretty much spring break for a lot of people which would account for the slower activity.

News / Re: IRC Group Syncing

Sounds sweet!
But somehow the syncing isn't working for me, neither groups nor password :/
password syncing is for opers, and requires you to log into your oper account first.
Try re-logging into Omnimaga and trying to group sync again.

Eeems has been working on a user control panel for IRC at irc.omnimaga.org. To be able to access it you have to sign up with nickserv and then use your nickserv password/username to sign in.
You can now sync your access with the forums via this control panel. If you are a CoT, ARS, Support Staff or and Admin you will get the appropriate access on the official Omnimaga channels if you run a group sync on the IRC control panel.
Feel free to join IRC, register your nick and then go to irc.omnimaga.org, sign in and choose "Sync Groups" from the dropdown on the top right!

It's the forum dB that's having issues?
No binary logging was used to backup, and if I was to just disable it for the ones that would cause the filesystem to fill up then we wouldn't be able to properly back up.

Why not just disable it for issue tables? Or is it not that simple?
Then we wouldn't be able to backup the important parts (messages)

WOW, 13GB is massive. Which log file was it?
On my servers systemd handles logging just fine. You can even set a nice size limit for the syslog.
And for other services which log into own files there's logrotate.
Mysql binary logs.
I've disabled it and we will have to setup something else for backups now then replication.

At least I'm glad it's not just the server technical specs being too low to handle OIRC2, SMF 2.0 and Omninet simultaneously. That would have sucked since this would have meant having to host Omnom on Soru or Albert's servers. :P
Our server specs are fine. More then adequate for everything. It's kinda difficult when a log file grows to 13GB+ in size though.

Maybe SMF2 is calculating the views differently?
Nope, enotify artificially inflates it. I've turned that off for now until I get around to re-writing it in a way that doesn't inflate the pageview count, and also doesn't start setting off the spam protection for too many login attempts.

OmnomIRC Development / Re: OmnomIRC changelog and suggestions
« on: March 06, 2014, 11:05:32 pm »
FYI - I've set it up so that the OIRC logs are cleared every night due to CPU usage issues. They are backed up to irc_lines_old before the irc_lines table is truncated though.

Site Feedback and Questions / Re: Please Help (unable to login)
« on: March 06, 2014, 11:03:12 pm »
I've disabled what could be causing this.
You will have to clear your cookies to get things to work again. Using the same cookies as the old site is not the problem. It's that you have been flagged as attempting to login too many times (via the feature I just disabled) and a new cookie is created to keep you from logging in until it has expired or been deleted.

We will not be renaming the cookies for the forum.

Site Feedback and Questions / Re: How do you rate posts?
« on: March 06, 2014, 02:37:01 pm »
EDIT: Nvm, thanks, it looks like the new post rating system is almost like tied to the built in karma system, which is why the icons are still at the same place. I thought it would just increase your now invisible karma
Not almost, it is.

Yay! I like the new features btw. Just keep in mind that the ability to see who downrated us could cause some problems with certain users, but at least it should make it much easier to see if somebody suddenly starts downrating someone in particular for absolute no reason every 10 minute (the new time limit between votes) >.<
It will cause problems at first, but hopefully the description part will help the more mature members grow in their ability to communicate effectively.
We will also disable viewing the logs for problem members if necessary.

The time limit will help deter people from abusing the rating system.

Hey guys! Your old karma/respect/post ratings have been imported from the old database!
Remember to keep an eye on https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HeBItJBoBIix_ErZa7wg1UInyLSAVWZ5XRwR3AjC8_Q/pub to see what we are working on implementing etc.

News / IRC Services Reset
« on: March 05, 2014, 05:58:18 pm »
Unfortunately due to an unforeseen log leak we lost all of our IRC services information. Please feel free to re-register on irc.omnimaga.org. While you are at it, you should join the !Members group (/msg GroupServ join !Members) so that you get automatic voice on the #omnimaga channels!
