I see Lua and C/asm as complementary: hopefully Ndless 3.0 will make possible to embed Lua scripts in Ndless programs, and extended the Lua API with native functions.

It all depends on what an "SDK" means. And we already have official and unoffical emulators.

But what's the error message shown on the computer side? "Operating system not found. Install OS now" is the calculator-side message.

Try to delete the documents from the maintenance menu (key combo "Doc+Enter+EE", see http://hackspire.unsads.com/wiki/index.php/Operating_System ) and reinstall the OS again. What does "reinstalling, no matter how many times, simply fails" mean exactly? What do you see on the computer side?

I hope we'll be able to bring an on-calc editor to make it even better.

Well, one thing I guess is the following:
-A lot of people wanted more programming capabilities for the Nspire -Their reputation was tarnished with OS 3.0.1 breaking calcs, something that made news on most TI websites. They wanted to repair their reputation -Their reputation was tarnished with the many actions against developers, with the anti-downgrade protections. This made Slashdot several times, something very bad for their reputation, given how bad Sony reputation got. -The Nspire did not sell enough due to bad programming capabilities vs price
Maybe it's just a change in direction, though, although not 100%, since they still don't allow ASM/C.
Some of the Lua samples leaked were written by TI late 2010. These samples are clearly to demonstate the API capabilities to developers, so the release of an SDK was already planned. There's no link between the OS 3.0.1 fiasco and these Lua tools. Advanced programming capabilities has probably been in TI's backlog for a long time, but implemented only now, this doesn't mean any change in TI's strategy. What's new is the collaboration with members of the community.

Lua is TI's solution to the lack of sandboxing feature of the previous OS versions that former TI employee Zac Bowling pointed out. This prevented any opening to third-party development that would have fiddle with protected features (such as Norse or OSLauncher do).
The Lua execution environment of the TI-Nspire is well-integrated with the OS (clipboard, menu, variables, ...) and controlled (but too much for a nDoom in Lua), and very similar to TI-68k's Flash Apps (and may be z80 Apps I don't know much about). Don't expect any further move from TI towards native coding, they've added what they thought was missing. Don't blame them, it's a calculator after all.

The blog has been set up for small updates and random thoughts for those interested. Omnimaga remains of course the place for major updates, discussions and support.

I still need to know: is it 3.0.2 compatible? EDIT: The application is Wine-ready!
But is the TI-Nspire software (required by this Lua converter) also WINE-ready?

He worked at TI a while ago, on the cross-platform (software + OS) GUI if I remember well.

It's just advertised, not used.

The site owner has probably notice heavy downloads and taken it down. But a mirror would be illegal.

But "open to the public" isn't really this.

It's even nicer than I initially thought. I urge you to search for "tools" on the Lua source file page (as long as it's still there).

Did some of you know about these Lua samples? The page has been removed by its author but the TNS and Lua source files are still available. They seem to have been produced by the official (currently private) Lua SDK.
