Ash: Phoenix / Re: [Ash:Phoenix]What happens when you die
« on: November 01, 2010, 04:06:45 pm »
Option 2: Pokemon Style
Advantages: Classic, doesn't trap player if they die in a dungeon
Disadvantages: Getting half (or even three quarters) of your money stolen isn't much of a punishment for dying
You could also have the player lose some items they have in their bag, like in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

Grrr Code Block!!! Battle engines are indeed such a pain, may just go with a simple one. Oh and BATTLE ANIMATIONS THAT CHANGE DEPENDING ON YOUR WEAPON!!!!!!

Edit: by the way a bit late but lowercase letters are ok right? if not its not that big a deal but i could make it look better with.
I think lowercase would be allowed, but I wouldn't use it too much, just because it's twice the size of uppercase.

And yea, battle engines are a pain, aren't they?

Axe / Re: 8xp to text converter
« on: October 31, 2010, 05:30:59 pm »
It is certainly possible, you just need to read the 8xp file and convert the hex into ASCII. I don't think there is any 8xp -> text converter software avilable now, but SourceCoder can do that online. Also, DocDE7 has a text -> DocDE file converter.

Link to SourceCoder: sc.cemetech.net

To expand on that, you can also use Tokenizer DE (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/430/43048.html) to make programs with DocDE7.

Miscellaneous / Re: Post your desktop

I recently changed my desktop to cycle through the pics in the zip below. It cycles every 10 seconds, as that's the fastest I could set it to.

TI-BASIC / Re: TI-BASIC Images
« on: October 31, 2010, 02:45:19 pm »
You can do it using Pt-On( and/or Line(, but it's very slow. If you want something faster, you need to use ASCII characters (or a Pic variable, but they're 767 bytes and fill the whole screen).
You could also go the hybrid BASIC approach, but until you're very comfortable and pretty good with pure BASIC, I wouldn't recommend it.

TI Z80 / Re: Formulum: Texas Instruments Version

Try this code:
Code: [Select]
:AxesOff
:ClrDraw
:1→W
:While W
:While W=1
:Text(1,1,"CHOOSE FORMULA
:Text(7,1,"1:CIRCLE AREA
:Text(14,1,"2:SPHERE VOL.
:Text(21,1,"3:CYLINDER VOL.
:Text(28,1,"4:CONE VOL.
:Text(35,1,"5:CONE SURFACE AREA
:Text(42,1,"6:QUADR. PYR. VOL.
:Text(49,1,"7:CYLINDER SURFACE AREA
:Text(56,1,"8:MORE FORMULAS
:Repeat 2>abs(5-abs(5-abs(Ans-83
:getKey
:End
:Ans→K
:If K=73
:Then
:ClrDraw
:2→W
:Else
:If K=92
:Disp "CIRCLE AREA
:If K=93
:Disp "SPHERE VOL.
:If K=94
:Disp "CYLINDER VOL.
:If K=82
:Disp "CONE VOLUME
:If K=83
:Disp "CONE SURFACE AREA
:If K=84
:Disp "QUADR. PYR. VOLUME
:If K=72
:Disp "CYLINDER SURFACE AREA
:Stop
:End
:End
:While W=2
:Text(1,1,"CHOOSE FORMULA
:Text(7,1,"1:SPHERE SURFACE AREA
:Text(14,1,"2:CUBE VOL.
:Text(21,1,"3:CUBE SURFACE AREA
:Text(28,1,"4:PARALLELEPIPED VOL.
:Text(35,1,"5:PARALLELEPIPED SURFACE AREA
:Text(42,1,"6:TRAPEZIUM AREA
:Text(49,1,"7:RECTANGLE AREA
:Text(56,1,"8:MORE FORMULAS
:Repeat 2>abs(5-abs(5-abs(Ans-83
:getKey
:End
:Ans→K
:If K=73
:Then
:1→W
:ClrDraw
:Else
:If K=92
:Disp "SPHERE SURFACE AREA
:If K=93
:Disp "CUBE VOLUME
:If K=94
:Disp "CUBE SURFACE AREA
:If K=82
:Disp "PARALLELEPIPED VOL.
:If K=83
:Disp "PARALLELEPIPED SURFACE AREA
:If K=84
:Disp "TRAPEZIUM AREA
:If K=72
:Disp "RECTANGLE AREA
:Stop
:End
:End
:End

To quit, press ON to break it. One of the main reasons the above code didn't work it because you had the wrong key-codes in your If statements. I didn't know if it was supposed to loop back or not, but you can change that or add in another While W= loop with more formulas. Another thing that went wrong was before the If that created the second menu you had your Stop statement, which would end program execution.
If you want your If statements to do more than one thing, you'll need to use and If Then structure.
Code: [Select]
:If (Condition)
:Then
:(Do Whatever)
:End

Welcome!

When I did a lot of hybrid BASIC programming (I mostly do Axe now, but I still dabble) I would use your programs on my TI-83+ BE. They were pretty awesome. I especially loved EnPro.  ;)

There's plenty.
One that comes to mind is to search 'ASCII Art'. Then look at the logo on the results page.

General Discussion / Re: The (new) DJ Omni Music Torrent!
« on: October 30, 2010, 08:59:43 am »
I tried the first one and it looks like it's missing DJ's song 'The Last Time You'll Rock'. Was this fixed in the newer versions, or did I just miss something?
What makes this really odd, is that I can't download 'The Last Time You'll Rock' in the downloads section. It just 404's when I click on the download link. However, I tried another song and it worked...

Enjoy :) Subtract the header and the size of the Pt-On() routine and it's only slightly larger than 2 pictures!
Thank you so much! Now I can try to finish up the map routine. ;D

Ash: Phoenix / Re: Ash: Phoenix

One hard game to hack, if I remember, is ROL3, unless you load a save file, exit, change stuff then run the menu program. In Reuben it's a major pain due to some encryption and in Mana Force series there are a lot of checks being done before loading the file to detect cheat save files. :P

In Mana Force, I think you can still mess up your save file even if you quit the game after loading a file then save by running the appropriate program, because when saving it doesn't fix data to be valid, so you will still be redirected to the new game screen when loading your file. :P
That reminds me, I also did a little hacking on ROL1.

Well stats will be recalculated when you load the game, but all that means is that you change the numbers that the stats are calculated off of. I wonder how easy my stats formula is to figure out...;)
Guess I might have to check the source....

I do have some BASIC programs I made to grab 8x8 sprites from a picture, I you wanna use them. They do require Celtic III/DCS7, but I could change that if you need.
