Other Calc-Related Projects and Ideas / Re: 8-bit sound for DJs
« on: January 25, 2010, 02:32:23 pm »
Go ahead! Great idea!
The idea is not me doing it. :P This is more a calcmaniac84 or Jim e thing.

But if I find the source code of some of the alternatives in the z80 Gameboys, maybe I can try to port it even if the calculators don't have good hardware. I think I know the basics of sound, but for some advanced stuff, I had to search some wikipedia articles.
I will check if there is any source file when I get will or nothing better to search.

TI-BASIC / Re: Compare getkey to a list
« on: January 25, 2010, 09:37:05 am »
I use theta and I for loops.
K for getkey, of course. I didn't know of TI examples... I just followed others.

I also use F for flags (1 or 0).

The lists I prefer to use is not L1 and L2 but L5 and L6 because is more friendly to user. You rarely use them but L1 and L2 are the first used, I suppose.

I can get some great sites resources for MTG decks from a friend.

I will ask when he brings the computer to school. They are bookmarked in Firefox, so it is easy to pass them to me.

Cool...

Now, how much boredom is needed to try on your longest RPG? I wish I could be that bored sometimes to do some really crazy stuff for a change.

Hey look what I discovered from the tv news:

What you think about porting to calculators?

TI-BASIC / Re: In-Program Sub-Routines
« on: January 24, 2010, 05:57:15 pm »
I wish XCOPY/Resource existed or that Flash Gordon was more reliable when I did Zelda, it would have maybe 45 subprograms at most instead of 200 x.x
How is it possible to follow the code? I couldn't handle that code without quitting for sure...

Web Programming and Design / Re: Web Browsers as Kids
« on: January 24, 2010, 05:51:24 pm »
What about Lynx?
A text web browser but never saw it in action.
I don't know how to describe as a kid. O.o

I am a Firefox user. I became fascinated ever since tabbed browsing appeared. Who was the first to implement it anyway?
But with the portable Google Chrome and Opera, I will give a try. I also need to test my web pages in them.

Also I don't think Opera is average. Just in between Firefox and Chrome in extensions stuff.

This tricks should be added to http://tibasicdev.wikidot.com/

Never think you know all TI-BASIC tricks. :P

Hmmm, a tutorial of ASM to TI-BASIC programmers... The better approach in my opinion would be teach everything from the ground. Teach the low level thinking. Thing that in 28 days tutorials is not explicit.

I had, too, the idea to do an ASM tutorial accessible to all, even people who know nothing of low level. I don't know if I shared the idea. But never actually did any serious writing. I just have an index of what the tutorial would look like.

TI-BASIC doesn't seem to help in nothing, except some mind practising.

After learning ASM, I think C will be easy to tackle.  :) Never tried or intend to know soon. At least it is useful to understand why exists number value limit and loss of accuracy on PHP and Python numbers. But understanding is not mandatory, you can just memorize one or two rules.

« on: January 23, 2010, 12:02:23 pm »
Great effort you show by buying some calcs to test this. You are awesome.

New tilp version! That is amazing. I will (try to) reinstall on Linux and retest.

Does this version allows to keep both TI-Connect and Tilp installed? (I think since they use different drivers, it is not very viable)
And it would be great if tilp accepted all the versions of group file that DJ wrote about.

Good idea! This will make another nice searchable source for TI-BASIC stuff.

The finance variables are 2 byte tokens but they are faster! Try to count a keyloop where you store the getkey to the N in finance apps.
I think the speed gain is because there are specific routines in TI-OS to access/store to them and/or they are in a specific location in memory.

Nice trick to save to the a and b. ;)

Will it have sound?
I'm considering it (for the SE and 84+ models only)
That is wonderfully insane. ;D
