News / Contest 2013 Calculator Gaming Roots
« on: September 23, 2013, 11:59:43 pm »

This year our contest is about what makes gaming on the calculator fun. That means simple games that make you want to go back and play over and over again. Not because they are technically challenging or visually the most interesting, but because the concept makes the game stand out as an enjoyable item to have on your calculator. For this contest, we are focusing on the TI-83+ series (TI-83+/SE,TI-84+/SE). Please see below for the list of categories.

We have 2 categories this year:
  • 1. BASIC
  • 2. Axe/Assembly/Hybrid BASIC

Contestants should email their entries to O M N I M A G A 2 0 1 3 @gmail.com by November 5th 2013, 12:00 AM UTC-5. Please remember to include a readme file with your entry and instructions on how to play your game. Also remember to include information on any libraries that may be needed in order to run your game.

Prizes

Second2-3 various Ti-Calculators in The 8x line
ThirdOmnimaga T-Shirt

Rules:

1: The game must not contain adult material or extremely offensive content (such as racial slurs).

2: You are not allowed to enter a project that was started prior the start of the contest. You can use code, images, and ideas from it, though.

3: You are allowed (and encouraged) to announce updates and screenshots of your project anywhere, but you are NOT allowed to provide any download copies of it (or the entire source code) to anyone until the end of the contest.

4: Help is allowed, as long as you respect rule #3. Also, keep in mind that usage of other people's code may affect your originality score considerably.

5: You must have a forum account to participate.

6: Only one entry per person per category is allowed

7: Your entry must be submitted before November 6th 2013, 11:59 PM UTC-5. We will not be accepting any more entries past this deadline.

8: Omnimaga has the right to change and modify the rules at any time.

Forum members interested in judging should message a staff member. You may judge any category that you are not participating in. A grading rubric will be posted soon as it has been typed up. Good luck everyone!

So people were having issues with telling what style programs we are looking for so I figure I would add screenies and links to some games that fit the description. Now this isn't saying there would make good entries its just the style of game play we are looking for. so here you all go

These are all games that you can pick up and play and are simple to understand yet will keep you coming back to play more and that is what we want to see.

If you have any questions please pm me i will answer them as fast as I can.

Good luck!

its was about 60-80 a month on amazon. we do not know if we can have the proper search engine yet tho we can try it in the future for now lets get it running happily.

and yes the down time was cause of the hdd getting full which is another part of the reason we are moving

a single core at 2.0ghz so faster Clock more ram and a faster hdd for less :D and we have a bandwidth cap at like 1tb instead of a metered bandwidth where we pay for what we use

Yes we will still use cloudflare. It saves a lot of hdd i/o and other things. And eeems is handling it we are moving to a server with more ram and disk space. We just have less cpu speed. 2.0ghz x2 cores

@pimath as long as the website loads yes you should be able to. attachments I would be cautious of but yes you should be able to

Today me and Eeems have started a long been wanted process of moving Omnimaga to a new host once again. We have been on amazon web services for a bit over a year now and its just to expensive for us to keep us running. We have started the move over to Ubiquity which has served eeems for over a year hosting eeems.ca. This move will take place over the next 48hours or so, During this time we please ask you to keep in mind the website might seem spotty but it will be back shortly at any of these occasions.

I will keep this post updated with the status of everything:

As of now the post database has been migrated and slowly everything else will be. I will also post the new ip for people with slow dns's once we make that change.

Thank you
