The only thing I find with TI BASIC as a starting language, is that it's a sequential language. And beyond that, variables are global so scope and objects are harder to learn when you transition into a lower language.

calcfreak89 actually speedcubes. His best time, I believe, is about 5 seconds (literally!) and his average is about 20 seconds.

I would suggest C++ with the SFML library. SFML is actually quite good and developer friendly from what I hear about it between it and SDL.

Oh, and SFML is great for 2D games. :D

More than a bit of a necro but why don't we start this up again? It was actually a pretty good idea but it died. :S
