Math and Science / Game Theory
« on: June 26, 2011, 12:41:05 am »
Ok, a genius is probably needed here. So I've come to the right place. :P

I am trying to solve this problem. I figure if I can figure out the game theory behind this game then I can solve it. But I need help with some of the terms and such. What is Nim-Value? How is it used? How do you find it? Thanks!

At the very least you should find a workaround. Perhaps still writing code via pencil and paper and having a friend write it and compile it. Or something like that. :S

What I can't get my head around is, why ground your child from something that's productive?! You really have to fight them on this one. This is YOUR future, not theirs. You have to show them that this is what you want and what you are going to do regardless. Show them that this is not a bad influence. Perhaps even show them this thread so they can see for themselves the support you are getting.

That's why we have translators. :P

I'm not from Germany, but I know about 5-6 people from Germany from Xbox LIVE.

You should be able to. Num keys change the tile you are using. There should be another window that shows you your tiles. For all the controls there's a readme included.

Edit:

It should draw a thin huge rectangle that isn't black around the entire map, so you can see the boundaries.

I can add that easily. In fact.. there, it's already done.  ;D

"How big do you want"

How large you want the tile map to be. Two values X then Y.

Is it crashing after you input the values to use? Try loading the map.

SFML is available for Linux, in fact, the first few builds were Linux builds.

I tried to get my friend who has Linux to compile it for Linux but he was getting errors. It might have been his setup though, I don't use any Windows-only stuff. :)

Sorry for the double post but I finished a new version of the program.

Changes: You can now have as many images as you want as long as they are stored in the "data/" folder and are numbered png's. ie: "0.png", "1.png", "2.png", etc. Note that they must start from 0 and increment by one.

Do you all feel pain in your dreams?

I do sometimes. I know I also have taste and touch in dreams as well.

You may have still been under sleep paralysis.

Sleep Paralysis while awake SUCKS. You feel trapped in your body and it can be terrifying. :s

Computer Projects and Ideas / Tile-Cat Map Editor
« on: June 22, 2011, 08:50:39 pm »
TileCat is a computer based tile mapper. My inspiration for this project was a utility for Daemons but I've made it its own project.

At the moment I have a usable release which supports creating tilemaps for visual, collision, and transitional data (or whatever you specify for each)

It produces a file with a simple format ([MapWidth],[MapHeight],[data])
(Each tile is a single byte)

Eventually I want it to export the data into an AppVar or a String for use in calculator games. I even want it to send it directly to the calculator from the program.

Here's a screenshot:

You can download here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10573921/Tile%20Map%20Editor.zip

Edit: Here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/tilecat/

Note the README is pretty bad but I suggest reading it nonetheless.

Future updates:

-Non-Visual modes will have background visual data updated in real time
-Better README
-Ctrl+N will start a new window in Collision or Transitional modes (right now you have to run the program and set it to those modes, in the next release it will start in visual mode by default)

NOTE:
Every Collision and Transitional map MUST have an accompanying  visual map of the same name or the program might crash.

as for the dream recall i guess a better question would be out of how many nights a week do you remember dreams...

I would guess three - four if that. I don't dream nearly as much as I used to. :(

regardless though I am going to tell you to start a dream journal though.

I had a feeling that would be the case :P

now i have a question for you though homer do you believe there is a difference between a OBE/Astral projection and lucid dreaming or are they one and the same. i've heard many different stories and participated in many arguments over this concept xD

I think there is definitely a difference between LD and AP. LD, I think, is more or less your conscious mind telling your subconscious mind what it wants and your subconscious builds the dream world. In AP I think it deals much closer to the subconscious to the point that part, if not all, of it becomes accessible. Furthermore I believe that during AP you are dealing with higher dimensions. (After all, we all exist on every dimension we are just aware of only the first four due to five and above being tightly curled) I believe that in AP the fifth and perhaps sixth become uncurled for you perception of them. Beyond that I have talked to friends who have gone through AP and in AP, you can cause mental damage if you are not careful ie, depression. LD does not carry that risk in my experience.

I believe that the reason LD is so similar to AP is because, when you dream your mind is close to that state where you can project. In LD, since you can control it without breaking that trance, it becomes easier to make that step up to AP as you are already in that state.

"How good is your dream recall?"

My dream recall is so-so. I an remember some dreams. Those that I don't I usually can remember the overall theme of the dream or at least specific parts.

Always initialize all of your variables at the beginning of your program. It seems as if you only initialize B and LSCHL1
All the variables used are initialized properly, just they are within the program body.

I tried to see what could be the problem, but I can't figure out where the code that gives the curve to move on is. I also don't see where the code that has it move in a straight line once it points to the dot is.

Other than that, this completely blew my mind! O.O I agree with Compy, a very good start. ;D

Other / Re: Messed up MP3 Player

The only other thing I could think of, is installing Linux on a flash drive (Damn Small Linux or the like could possibly work, definitely Ubuntu) and doing it there. If your school computer doesn't have Boot security then you should be fine.

on windows it automatically tries to install itself onto the computer which I need admin rights to do and I'm on a school computer... Is there any way to prevent it from auto running without admin rights on XP?

There are, but I don't know specifically of any. Can't you just open up My Computer and browse to the mp3 player?
