« on: March 08, 2007, 01:07:00 pm »
Here is a little image I made while trying to polish up my spriting skills with anti-aliasing and dithering. I was going to use the background but didn't feel like it meh... It's original and anyone can have it. 96x64 4lvl grayscale. More bg's coming!

I think you would need to put the second image on the background then mask the first one onto it then put the second image back again and scroll the first one and mask it again and so on...

yeah newegg.com is the best for discounts. Also for a note if you want to save money then go for OEM than boxed materials. You won't get all the special dressings but that isn't what you want anyways right?? you just want a good computer.

Also the processor I would go with is

AMD Opteron 175 Denmark 2.2GHz Socket 939 Dual Core Processor Model OSA175CDBOX - Retail

64 bit Support: Yes
HT: 1000MHz
Hyper-Transport Support: Yes

L2 Cache: 2 x 1MB
Manufacturing Tech: 90 nm
Multi-Core: Dual-Core
Processors Type: Server
Series: Opteron
Vista Ready: Yes

and for monitor I would pick

CHIMEI 937A Silver-Black 19" 8ms Widescreen LCD Monitor - Retail

Brightness: 330 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 600:1
Display Colors: 16.2 Million
Display Type: WXGA

Maximum Resolution: 1440 x 900
Panel: Active Matrix, TFT LCD
Pixel Pitch: 0.285mm

There would be no other way to do multitasking but interrupts that would be sufficient unless you wanted the user to choose when to end and start threads, but thats just like hard coding it.

I know all about the TI-89 and menu stuff but I am not going to straight copy it because it needs its own flare on it. And a mouse is very simple to implement and will most definetly not make the GUI heavy. And as I have said before programmers do not have to use multitasking. But why would it not help say if you were waiting for the player to press a key and you want the cpu constantly moving. Well then multitasking would improve upon that would it not?

Multitasking wouldn't really slow anything down. It may a little but in the long run it will make it appear as things are running faster. And just because the kernel uses 1 process doesnt mean the other one can't be used while the kernel is running. During program both process ports will be open each getting their own stack, allocated memory, and thread capabilties

It wouldn't be so hard to put in there.

NOTE: If I do make multitasking part of the shell then the shell will take 1 process and 1 thread to run. :/confused.gif
