Could you make like a "QuickTime picture viewer" style thing for zStart, so that you could enter a photo browser by pressing a certain key sequence from the homescreen and view 8-level greyscale pics, instead of just at boot?
Well you can already do Apps/Up/Enter/2/4/2nd and then you can browse your images with left and right (works with up and down too).

Other / Re: Why are headphones so expensive now?
« on: September 25, 2013, 04:34:45 pm »
I tried a lot of headphones for 2 entire years, I can tell you that most of them are not worth their price. There are even weird things, like the AKG K420 being better and cheaper than the AKG K430, which is meant to be an evolution of the K420.

Anyway, I tried no-audiophile headphones like Wesc ones, they are a huge joke. What you pay is the look you get when wearing them.
I tried audiophile ones like the Sennheiser HD 250, it was not so bad but the AKG K420 still was a lot better (and cheaper). What you pay there is the reputation of the brand.

Of course, not all headphones are overpriced crap, the Bose QC15 really fits my needs (and you can guess how demanding I am if I spent 2 years looking for headphones). Its "hardware" is overpriced for sure, but this time you don't pay for look or for reputation, you pay for quality and research (you have to pay the guys who created this after all).

(And I don't talk about the Beats because even in 2 years I never managed to try any. Shops always had a problem, either they were broken or they were missing batteries).

___

So yeah, if you want a good compromise between price and quality, I advise you to get the AKG K420. The only downside of it is that its isolation is really poor so you won't hear a lot of music if you are in a train next to a crying baby. But if you are at home, you'll have the best sound I've ever tried.

Done. Only French for now though.

You might also want to mention that zStart and MathPrint don't get along nicely if people have trouble with stuff.
Yeah, I said that. I also said that maybe complete nexcomers should avoid toying too much with options they don't know what they do.

If you are going to do something front page with it, let me know so that I can upload a full .zip of it. The one I uploaded is missing a few things for being a full release.
Apparently, no one is against my article going to front page (I just have to finish it with those said screenshots). And even if it doesn't go to front page, a full zip is still a good idea, isn't it ? ^^

Also I'm looking forward to your news Hayleia. ;)
Erm, not sure it will be a news. In my opinion, zStart deserves front page news but it is not new and I'd find weird to news about a 2 years old program, even this one.

(Also, sometimes it is good to look on the forums before making a new topic, or try Googling a bit (second link when typing "run basic progs in axe"))

Thanks a lot for your interest in assembly for TI calculators and the community Jacob/penguin!
Erm, his name is not Jacob at all.

Also, I'll use that post to host screenshots of zStart so I can make a decent post on TI Planet about this app (I'll do this tomorrow maybe).

You cheated a bit on mockup007 and used pixels that aren't there :P
Ah yeah, lol, I may have forgotten that I was working in doubled size -.-°

I also thought it might look better if the title was just outlined instead of inverted, but I don't really like it:

This one is not so bad, I prefer this to the non-outlined one.

Anyway, I think I like mockup008 most.
Yeah, same for me, this is actually the reason why I made three screens for this one and not for the others lol.

I made some mockups to solve the "meh" part.

The first one is basically breaking the top rectangle so that it never makes one block with the selection rectangle.
The second one is a stylized version of the first one (if you use that idea, feel free to change that ugly shape I used around "AxIde").
The third one is compressing things a bit so that there is a free line under the top rectangle. It would require changing the rectangle selection a bit though since the top/bottom of that rectangle sometimes is confused with a line that was already present.

I don't quite understand how pt-change twice will erase the cursor?  Will it not just undo itself?
The goal is not to use it twice in a row. You do it once before the DispGraph to display the cursor, then once after the DispGraph to erase the cursor.

Are you paid to make all those great programs ? Seriously, not only they are all awesome but moreover you do them in such a short time !

question : the IDE will be a applications or a programe ? (applications should be cool)
<off-topic and French>

Eh bien en anglais c'est pareil, on ne dit pas "the IDE will be this or that ?" mais "will the IDE be this or that ?"

Deuxièmement, tu confonds sûrement "should" et "would". "Should" c'est en gros "devrais", et "would" c'est en gros "serais". Donc pour dire "une application serait bien" tu utilises "would" et non "should".

Troisièmement, "program" s'écrit sans "e" à la fin et "application" s'écrit sans "s" à la fin quand il n'y en a qu'une seule.

</off-topic and French>

Sorry, this is completely off-topic. I actually wanted to say that on the chat but nikitouzz must have been offline when I arrived.
Also, native English speakers can correct what I said if it is wrong because that won't help nikitouzz if I give him wrong corrections, and that would help me improve too.

I think this problem was present before the beta in fact. I checked the code and found an(other) optimization fail.
I "fixed" it. In this new beta, Pokemons evolve (at least my Metapod evolved at lvl 10) but when they evolve, the wrong name is displayed. Not a big problem I guess so I release it like that and I'll fix it for the next real update.

Thanks for reporting.

I never really had much luck with modifying grub myself, but have you tried a tool like SBM?

If you're going for style, burg isn't half-bad either ;)  Same thing as grub, but with icons.
http://code.google.com/p/burg
I didn't try SBM but I tried Grub Customizer and it didn't work.
And I didn't know about burg. GRUB2 also supports icons but burg (from Google images) doesn't seem bad at all.

I know you have almost complete control of an image if you use Imagemagick's convert tool.
I had bad experiences with that tool on Windows. I don't know how well it works on Linux but I don't trust it anymore.

@all, in fact pngs produced with GIMP work if they are edited working-pngs and not new pngs. I attached a photo if you want to know how it looks like now.

Maybe he is pessimist (like me) and prefers not saying anything and present people a great surprise when the project is done rather than bragging that he is working and disappoint everyone with long ETAs or finally unfinished projects (even though he won't disappoint anyone, maybe that's what he thinks).
