News / Re: Nspire 3.9 available, blocks 3.6+Ndless
« on: July 15, 2014, 03:12:09 am »
Yay I'm not upgrading. \o/
Haha ! Same for me. I am keeping the good old 3.1, not even 3.6 :P

Will nlaunch 3.6/3.9 be coming out soon?

I'd love to give 3.9 a try on my cx cas
I guess no one knows. The 3.6 was made available for nlaunch by an anonymous guy when everyone tought it was impossible, so no one can predict if that guy will make the same thing with 3.9, and if he does, when this would happen.

I didn't see anything broken for now :P but I can confirm that this line works now.
Thanks :)

I'd not necessarily use the whole screen, but I'd still use a bigger part of the screen. Can't the score be displayed on top with a font that supports transparency, and bars be displayed on the left but in a smaller area ?

I think handegg is American football
Well I know that, I am using this word to make the difference with Football, as DJ_O said. I can call it American Handegg if you want, but I don't see why there should be "Foot" or "Ball" in its name :P

Another bug ?
I have this in my prog:
[]→°Test .état
This gives an error, and jumps on the first "t" in "état". I guess it's because it didn't get that the "." started a comment but why ?

I personally prefer ice hockey since it's faster-paced, has more goals and shots, although it's more dangerous. I also like baseball due to the strategy aspect of the game and the fact that a 12-1 game can end up 12-13 in the span of two innings (basically the final outcome of the game is not known right from the start like in soccer, where a 2-0 goal deficit is pretty much impossible to overcome).

In football's defense, though, the 90 minutes of nothing during a game is far worse in "Handegg", because each play lasts like three seconds. In hockey, time stops completely during game stoppages, so you're guaranteed to get 60 minutes (or more) of hockey plus a few minutes of fights. In baseball, games don't have much action but at least there's no time limit.
I was not saying Football was the worse, maybe Handegg is not better (never watched that, I don't even know how it's meant to be played except that there is no ball but an egg and you mostly don't play with your foot but your hand). I was just saying that there are things that are far more interesting, like ice hockey as you mention it.

Welp, football is corrupted by money, that's the main problem. :P
Good point... :P
And fake injuries
Yeah, I don't know why Football is seen as a man's sport, women are a lot better at faking (understand what you want here).

Football is ridiculous (I am talking about Football, not Handegg). Just look at the last match, one hour and a half of nothing. The only match I watched was Brasil-Germany, after I heard about the results because I thought that for once, it would be a match that I could watch without being bored seeing how many goals there were.

When I asked someone why it's interesting, he answered "you can't understand because you don't bet".
Well, it's true that betting makes things interesting, but why do those people seem only to bet on Football ? They could bet on SSBM matches too.

Looks like fun indeed ^^
But I don't know how you'll do a convenient camera movement without a mouse.

Otherwise, you can also make a Portal game if you lack ideas :P

But why did you force yourself to wake up ? :( Could have been interesting.
No thanks :P

You usually aren't the most rational of persons when asleep so when something scary happens you are mostly like "OMG GTFO THIS IS SCARY" and when you realize oh its a dream the best way is waking up. Also forcing yourself to wake up is always... interesting. I did it a few times.
I don't see why it's not rational to be afraid when something scary happens :P
And I very often force myself to wake up when I am in a nightmare, as soon as I realize it's only a nightmare.

Necropost but since it is on topic, I guess it is ok ?

I made some scary dream one day this week (can't remember which day exactly).
Basically, I was at home, in my sister's room for some reason, doing something, I don't know what, and no one else was at home (supposedly). Then, there's a blackout. Can't see anything at all, everything is black. I manage to get in my room where I know I have a flashlight and manage to get it. I then go back in my sister's room, for some reason, and try to get back at what I was doing. Weird noises in the house, that go silence sometimes. My flashlight flickers before going black. Weird noises get closer. I notice it is a dream and force myself to wake up. I open my eyes. That's the worst part because nothing changed, I still can't see anything in my room. End of the dream but not of the nightmare :P

What was weird with that dream is that it was somehow coherent. I mean, there are often changes in dreams, like you get teleported to Las Vegas in 0 seconds and the plot changes, but here the plot never changed O.O

Well it depends on what you call failing. This would be a fail for the organizer, but not for the contestants since no one would be disappointed.

327
You can put me in Axe. At worst I'll get disqualified by doing nothing but if I don't suscribe, I wouldn't be able to enter :)

328
I don't really know why the TI Concours was mentionned here because as you said, it's a short contest without prizes, without a said organization, just for the fun, while the TI Concours was meant to be something serious it failed to be. Can you fail at not being organized, short, without prizes and just for the fun ? :P

Anyways, sounds like fun :)

Regarding the touchpad, for me it is a pain to play nDoom without mechanical feedback ( the click of the arrow keys ). Like I barely touch anything and the player begins to move.. I do not like that at all. I will add the scratchpad/doc keys for keypress evalutation though.
I agree that the touchpad is awful. Keys (like on Clickpads) are a lot better. However, we have that touchpad on CXes, and what's worse than a touchpad in my opinion is a touchpad where we have to click because then we are tempted to use it as keys, put two fingers on it and then when we press, the touchpad doesn't know where we press. That's why I agree with your point on keys, but I agree with mdr1's point with the touchpad.
At worst, can't you make that an option somewhere ? Let the user choose if clicking is needed or not ?

Thanks :D
You should mention if it doesn't work in apps due to using SMC though.
