Does it take a lot of processing power to make textured walls?  You've got your engine, so a tank game might be fun, with cities and what not--I woud gladly create the levels for that!  Even more so if the city scape can be rotated 360 degrees left and right

The NES could be done for sure.  Calc84maniac and ThePenguin have some some sweet SNES stuff for the 84+, so I'm pretty sure a SNES system would be feasible.  N64 is not very likely, sadly

Well, it's only a test, so I'm not going to worry about the knocking for right now.

I forgot that I wanted you guys to see that this cutscene contains only data.  S.A.D. has some code that reads this data, letting the calculator know what to do.  Below is the data for those of you who are interested.  Right now, the engine only supports talking characters, putting an overwritten sprite on the screen, and pausing.  Eventually, campaign data will be compressed.

Here's the first test cutscene.  Remember that more features will be available in the future.

"How long does it take to draw 10,000 sprites?"  (about 3 seconds)

If that's without refreshing the screen every sprite, I remember than in unoptimized ASM it's about .5 seconds...

Here's a guy. It's kinda hard to get that much detail in such a small picture

Agreed, and it looks great!  I have what I need now, and I will say that you especially helped me with the trouble I had with the eyes!  Thanks, Magic Banana!

Wow that looks amazing, are you sure this is on the crappy 63x94 TI 83/84+SE series screen?

Absolutely :)  Besides, in ASM, you can use row 64 ;D

Here's a mockup of part of the cutscene I plan to test this week.  This is inside a planetary HQ on the planet Synor, one of the planets where Tosonians are required to take a mortal form in order to survive.

Thanks for adding additional mines via scrolling!  That looks awesome!  By now the best Ti-83+ minesweeper game on the market. :D

Btw, what's the intended max for columns and rows?

Yeah but I mean, I am fairly sure that for a RPG, you can get much faster speed than Joltima for smooth scrolling. In Joltima, it scrolls by 2 pixel interval instead of 1. Axe won't be as fast as ASM but it will sure be faster than some old stuff I saw back in the days, made back when there was little z80 documentation available.

Agreed.  When you had little at your disposal, ASM programming was more of a nightmare, so there was only so much you could do before you gave up on a project.  Axe does do better in that case.  Again, stuff like Joltima was not edited for being as fast as possible.

EDIT:  I'm now a veteran!

I wouldn,t say unoptimized, personally. I am sure Axe games for the most part could run much faster than most old ASM stuff on ticalc.org

Unoptimized means you didn't make sure your program could run as fast (and as small) as possible.  If an Axe game runs faster than an old ASM program on the same calculator, the ASM program was not optimized.  I'm afraid I have to agree with Deep Thought here.

So fast that there's no reason to learn ASM if you have trouble with it.  I wouldn't be surprised if half the new games on ticalc.org were written in Axe

I'm having trouble coming up with a facial look for a 30-year old male who is totally serious and looks stern/evil.  I'm mostly having trouble with the hair, but a 15 x 15 black and white head would be nice.  No sunglasses, please (since I already have those kinds of characters.) Thanks!

Or was it? Maybe I'm so ninja that I tricked you into thinking that what I grabbed are fake ones while I really have the real ones, with the security system, waiting to find Netham45 to see if I can make them explode. Yep, that's right, I could be that

Since you're still talking, and since there's no organic dirt in my house, you grabbed the fake peanuts. :P
