Here's the menu allowing you to buy ships in groups, although it doesn't do anything yet. The hotkeys for this menu are the soft keys. This menu will NOT display if you are buying a Scouter.
The dollar sign allows you to buy a single ship. The plus sign allows you to add a ship to your group. So if I was currently using 2 Degrusers, pressing + would allow me to use 3. The minus sign button takes away a ship from the group. The dollar sign / arrow allows you to buy the maximum amount of the type of ship possible. The check mark is the "done" button. Difficulties have arisen that make it impossible for me to include shadows in S.A.D. Alpha 3. To make up for this, I will add money-making capability to S.A.D. One can make money, lose money, buy refineries, upgrade refineries, etc. 2148

EXCAVATOR
The Excavator is the Tosonian Refinery. 2149

QUARRY
The Quarry is the Ptaloid Refinery. The manual will comment that the Quarry builds actual "workers" rather than "processing nodes," even though both the Quarry and the Refinery function exactly the same way. 2150

I've been working to give each race 3 unique buildings to add to the strategy of the game. So I've made two changes to the Human Buildings.
First, the AA Defense now detects cloaked units. The detector, with the same sprite, is now a shield generator. Shots that hit the shield will weaken the shield, and any units that get inside the shield can fire at buildings without the shield getting in the way. The Watchtower will still uncover a large line-of-sight. (So don't ignore them. The fog of war uncovered really is worth the money.) However, the Watchtower will also allow you to, for a price of crystals, pick a spot which will uncover a small amount of fog-of-war, as well as detect units. (This is like the Terran Sensor Add-On in Starcraft) This spot is fixed until the player pays more crystals and picks another spot. 2151

Part of the difficulty involved in S.A.D. is making sure that a player will use a particular unit at least once every 2-3 games. I watched expert games of Starcraft 1 and noticed that the queen and the Dark Archon were rarely used, because not many situations called for them.
I didn't want that to happen with the Human Tank, the Ptaloid Pauk, and the upcoming Tosonian Borce. So I updated the purpose of an "Artillery" unit. A unit with artillery can splash damage up to five units in a group. Artillery cannot be used against air. 2152

WALL
The Ptaloids are the only race to have walls. Walls can be built as blockades, slowing enemy movement. If they are next to generators or powered buildings (remember that most Ptaloid buildings must be next to each other with at least one generator for every chain of buildings), they will damage any unit that runs into them. 2153

HAWK / STAR TANK
I will upload images later. The Hawk / Star Tank is like the Viking in Starcraft II, even though I didn't intend it. The Hawk is the Tosonian's air superiority unit, and the Star Tank is the Tosonian ground-to-ground unit. Both can be detectors (when researched), both can switch from one to the other (when researched), and the Star Tank can hold plasma torpedoes (when researched). Also, the Hawk can be transformed to another unit on-the-fly. The Star Tank can only be recieved either at an "Operation Center/Transformation Gateway," or by changing Hawks to Star Tanks. Star Tanks cannot transform on-the-fly. DEGRUSER Since the Degruser was invented by the Tosonians, they have this unit available to them. Degrusers cannot transform on-the-fly. Tosonian Degrusers do not have photon torpedoes or mines. They do, however, have the deflector shield that the Human Raptor owns. Tosonian Degrusers also have an electron shield that bounces ANY shot (including the Degruser's own fire power) in the opposite direction it was fired. The shot will lose half its power (rounded down) when bounced back. The deflector shield is a deterioating upgrade and requires sephrane gas (and the enemy won't know it's in use). The the electron shield will last until destroyed and is a refillable upgrade. 2154

Buildings can no longer be built on top of each other. In addition, they cannot be built on top of solid objects or "space."
There are a couple of things to fix, however. First of all, there are some tiles that I mistakenly marked as "collidable," as well as some tiles I didn't mark as "collidable." In addition, I need to write code to allow a refinery to be built on top of only belthium crystals. I will write that code when I implement recieving income. 2155

One question, what do you have to do to check the building progress? Go to cursor mode (press the MODE key), and place your cursor over a wrench (aka building under construction.) You can also put your cursor over a building like this to see how many HP it has. 2156

He's currently trying to take them out, though. I think we've found most of them, and Buckeye's working on fixing them. Don't forget that credit goes to Buckeye as well for this amazing release 2157

I am at 75% but I am quite busy with the OT-calc stuff now. Sorry, but don't despair, it will be done soon. I'll take a look at ce the the next week, I expect a release at about >=20 august. Don't worry, I'm way more concerned about the CE, and you're certainly progressing on it. Remember, it will be months (if not 1-2 years) before I can implement the Xaos. 2158

Now that S.A.D. can handle groups of similar units, these are a few changes that will be made:
1. Buildings will have much more HP, and ships will cost less. Scouters will still be free, but you can only use one Scouter at a time. 2. When you add a processing unit to a refinery, the refinery will gather 60 additional crystals per minute. It used to be 6 or 12. 3. ACCs will now be able to do anything a Scouter can do (except build more ACCs). They can build anywhere in their range at any time, they can build defense no matter where a player is, and they can repair buildings while they are being attacked. 4. Defensive buildings can now be built right next to each other. 2159

I found a bug where pressing "clear" will always exit the program, even during a menu. Please do not report this bug to me since I am aware of it.

Someone else mentioned that bug. It's actually an easy fix, so it will be fixed in the next release. I just now tried it on my calculator. I think everyone agrees that it looks/plays better on the real thing than on an emulator. |
