ok it's been 12 hours... Now, i have a feeling that phpbb or SMF don't allow you to put your own theme/skin into your website so your forum integrates seamlessly with your website. you have to choose from the ones they provide. is this true?

Would nspire have such functions of its hardware? it might, it's just the os that doesn't use the features of those functions. Re: TI-Nspire Video Player « Reply #49 on: 11 February 2011, 12:37:04 pm » Getting the information to play the sound is not what is difficult. That's easy, just make every 5th byte sound data or something. The problem is playing it on a calculator. Most computers and ipods have sound cards, so all the program has to do is send the sound data out for processing. Some cheaper devices just have a Digital to Analog Converter, which when sent a value, puts that proportion of voltage on the line. For this you would have to send the sound data out at a regular interval.
However, the Nspire has neither. The Nspire has a choice of 100% or 0% voltage, not 65,536 steps. So to make intermediate values, you put it high then low for varying amounts of time depending on the value. And to make this happen accurately at 22,050 Hz takes nearly all the processor time. To add sound, you essentially have to make a sound player and add video. You can't easily add sound to a video player because it require extreme priority. With so many mp3 players around, unless you have great quality sound, people are going to complain while if you have a bad video, it's just a calulator.
100% or 0% voltage sounds like binary code, which probably wouldn't work for sound well enough. but possibly, if the hardware allows it...

Is there? Oh yes it's in the misc section.(http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=help) Ok maybe not Well i was hinting more of a reference page with posting level requirements, what is THE GAME, peanuts, rickroll etc. It could be just a normal page with this text and some pictures and stuff.

I can remember when i first joined omnimaga. I didn't read the forum rules properly, some misunderstandings and i began demanding like a dictator about a person who had spammed fuck on the forums. Some more slips by me got people really angry. I wasn't thinking what i was saying and i said it was bad to say it more than once or twice which was VERY badly worded. OOPS! I went back and read the forum rules properly. Swearing is OK unless it is trolling or spamm, which is why it's really important to read a forum's rules throughly before you join a community.
I learnt that lesson.
I guess that sets omnimaga apart from nearly all other forum communities, it has specific rules and an air of formality that makes it feel like it's in a different class to most other communities
I learnt this when i got banned and really thought about my actions.
About the FAQ. I would like that. I thought of having a reference page when i wanted to know the post requirements for each level and it was buried in the 3rd page of the topic months ago.

Oh, interesting, ill consider, and thanks for your response, i really appreciate it. So i can use SMF 2.0? hmm... both are getting updated all the time, i guess it depends whether i want the one that is the best at the time or the one that will last the longest...
Ok im looking at the website... phpbb can't do html posts? what does that exactly mean?

wow this must be really hard for you DJ_Omni. And it's not easy running your own website, especially one with such a thriving community. Good Luck for the future... and we always know you'll be still around, a legendary figure (legendary posts and ratings!). Anyway if you weren't here, Omnimaga.org wouldn't have existed, and on behalf of the omnimaga community, i say thank you for having the faith to continue in 2008 when activity was down and everything else you have done, even though i wasn't a member back then, i can guess that making omnimaga rise again after that must have been a marathon. Well it can't last forever, and 10 years is quite a long time. Many others would have given up long before you even thought of giving up. So well done, and all of us as a community will write the next chapter in omnimaga's history.
However i still think you are the leader of this website, and that alone is enough to make me think you are still an admin of sorts.

not sure which board to put this in, just putting it here, it can be moved. I am creating a new website and this time i want to go a few steps further than the one i have at www.jhgenius01.webs.com. And.... I already have! I have used dreamweaver cs5 this time instead of using a web editor and managed to get all the ftp hosting settings all right! I even got a transparent overlay! and a floating sidebar which is still in development!!! it's not calc related but you can visit it here: http://www.thedarklegions.freehostingcloud.comI hope to change the domain name soon but currently the website is in development. Now, i want a forum and I'm not sure which coding i should use. phpBB or SMF??? i know Omnimaga uses SMF, and i would like to use it but i would like to have a comparison first before i choose. jhgenius01

Oh no. i was thinking omnimaga is so good so much discussion and the most posts of any calc website. maybe quality not quantity. Anyway the number of members joining in the past few months are shocking +200 new people. When i first joined i caused quite a racket and was paid for my ways with a weeklong ban. but making an apology counts so much, it really means a lot. But now... I am kind of shocked. veteran members i hear?
